Homecoming

The Girl had a rare weekend off from soccer so California Girl and I went to the homecoming of our alma matter this past weekend. We’ve been in town occasionally and driven through the area; but, except for an occasional event in a nearby building, it’s been over twenty years since we were on campus. We had a great time! And, the football team won the game handily.

We stayed in a “four star” hotel just off campus that was almost brand new. We don’t usually travel without at least one of the kids; so we decided to treat ourselves. Our room had a large window with great view of the city. It’s something that we would definitely do more often if we could afford it. Our only regret is that the weekend wasn’t long enough. We’d like to get back again sometime; but, for now, it’s back to work for both of us.

P.S. We took some great pictures on Sunday morning. We haven’t had time to edit them yet; but will be sure to post them when we have.

A Day Off

I’ll pay for it with very late nights today and Monday but I took a much needed day off from work on Saturday and took California Girl out to dinner. It seems strange saying that I took a day off on Saturday but I’ve working weekends for so long, I can’t remember when my last free weekend was. The Girl had an early out of town soccer game which meant I had to be up and early; but even with the long drive, I was back home and had the day to myself by 1:30 or so.

I had planned to catch up with everyone in blogland; but spent the time catching up with California Girl instead. She accompanied me while I ran a few “fun” errands like going to the computer store. Then I washed the car and took a nap. My late afternoon naps are always great since California Girl usually joins me and we don’t go to sleep right away. But we really did sleep for a bit. Afterwards we got up and went out for our new favorite restaurant for a sumptuous dinner. It’s very expensive; but we love eating there for special occasions.

Our 20^th wedding anniversary is this month and we wanted to celebrate. It’s hard to believe we’ve been together that long. Even when I’m not cutting it off, I’ve lost most all of the hair that I had when we first met; but California Girl looks almost exactly the same. I’ve no doubt she could still wear the same dress now as she did then if they were still in style. Days like this don’t come around very often and I’m glad it was a good one.

Two For Tuesday – 115

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

The date in the byline is not a misprint. Our Two for Tuesday post is up. And it’s still only Tuesday. For the second day in a row, I left work at a (semi) reasonable time. I feel almost alive again.

Half Nekkid Thursday for this week is supposed to be Christmas tree themed, so we didn’t have any “extra” photographs use for today’s post which didn’t reveal our theme. And, since we’re actually posting this on a Tuesday, we decided to use a couple of candid photographs of California Girl that I took this weekend rather than give a preview of HNT.

I know that we usually post photographs of both of us; but we really like the ones we have selected. We’ll post an extra photograph or me on Thursday. In the meantime, please enjoy a rare on-time edition of Two for Tuesday. We’ve already had our HNT photo session so it should be posted in a timely fashion this week too.

Great Expectations

For the first time in what seems like ages, there isn’t a soccer game or a cross country meet this weekend. So, California Girl and I can sleep in tomorrow morning! We haven’t had a Saturday that we didn’t need to be up and out early since August. We’ve really enjoyed watching the children compete, especially The Boy since it was his final season; but it will be good to take a break. And, and, and, there is a strong possibility that we could have the house to ourselves overnight for some no kids around fun. I would not want for that to be the case all of the time; but California Girl and I really enjoy the times when we are home alone. I think we’ll be spending a lot of time in the home theater. We might even watch our favorite team play football. Somehow, I don’t think we’ll mind setting the clocks back this weekend.
