California Girl and I have thoroughly enjoyed participating as posters and as followers. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Osbasso for organizing and running it for almost seven years. That is a monumental achievement. California Girl and I wondered how to best commemorate our final HNT. We thought about taking photographs in a variety of places; but nothing seemed worthy. Ultimately, we decided that the best tribute would be to highlight our HNT photos over the years. For the finale, we created a Flash movie of all of our primary HNT photos. The picture changes faster than normal so it’s not too long.

It’s actually sleeting right now since the temperature dropped after the sun went down; but either one makes it very wet and miserable outside. Earlier today, California Girl and I heard a strange noise that we couldn’t identify. It was the sound of the sump pump in the basement. Our sump pump never, ever runs. In fact, I have a yearly ritual of pouring a bucket of water in the sump pit every spring to make sure that the pump is still working, just in case. Apparently, with all of the snow melt followed by the rain, the ground is as wet as it’s ever been the entire time we’ve been living here.

Tonight, we plan to order pizza and watch a movie rather than go out like we do on most Saturdays. As we often do, we went to The Arnold Classic Sports Festival in Columbus. It’s probably the biggest sports and fitness expo in the world, so all of the nearby parking lots were full. We had a very long, very wet walk to and from our car. We had a great time; but, I don’t want to feel another drop of rainwater anytime soon. “The Arnold” has more interesting people to watch both in the booths and in the aisles as any place I’ve been.

If you live in Ohio, try to stay dry. And, if you live anywhere else, have some weekend fun for us.

It’s good that we dug out from the last snowstorm on Saturday. That should make it easier to shovel the snow from the upcoming storm.  The Girl is really hoping for a snow day. Most of the snow from the last storm fell from Friday to Saturday so she “missed” the opportunity for an unexpected off day. The really large accumulations were farther to the east; so there weren’t any problems clearing the roads. I don’t know where the heaviest snowfall will be with this one. I brought my laptop home from work just in case.

I shoveled the driveway by hand on Saturday. I always shovel by hand. It sometimes takes a long time; but its good exercise. I’d like to have a snow blower; but it’s one of the many things I world like that’s on the useful but not essential list. The Girl isn’t yet permitted to drive in heavy snow; so she was around the house and available to help. It snows here every here; but some a lot of people around here still don’t know how to drive when there is snow on the roads. The Girl has been doing well driving; but, I still think that it’s not a good idea for her to be out when the roads are bad.  She hasn’t had any mishaps or near misses which is very good for someone her age. Do you let your kids drive in weather like this or do you wait it to stop snowing?
