California Girl and I have thoroughly enjoyed participating as posters and as followers. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Osbasso for organizing and running it for almost seven years. That is a monumental achievement. California Girl and I wondered how to best commemorate our final HNT. We thought about taking photographs in a variety of places; but nothing seemed worthy. Ultimately, we decided that the best tribute would be to highlight our HNT photos over the years. For the finale, we created a Flash movie of all of our primary HNT photos. The picture changes faster than normal so it’s not too long.

Thankfully we didn’t miss any time-sensitive emails. I’ll be certain to monitor the queue more closely in the future. Special thanks to Greg and Carolina Jim for reporting it. The movies never disappeared for visitors who used Firefox, Chrome, Safari or IE9 as their browser; but, the player did not show up for anyone using IE8. The lightbox plugin we used was incompatible with WordPress 3.1. Anything (like the video player) which depended on JavaScript which was loaded after the lightbox plugin didn’t work. The issue does not occur in IE9RC which is why California Girl and I didn’t find the problem ourselves. I probably should have done a better job testing after upgrading. I tested in things in multiple browsers; but wasn’t thinking about the differences between IE8 andsIE9. We’ll try to pay more attention in the future.

The new lightbox plugin is better since it is based upon jQuery rather than prototype; but it doesn’t support the collages (image area maps) that I am so fond of. So, I had to make a plugin for the plugin so that all of the JavaScript based special effects still work like before. Everything seems to be working now. Please email us or leave a comment if that is not the case for you. And thanks for your patience while I was fixing things. Technical difficulties are no fun; especially when things seem to be working for everyone else.

P.S. I’m going to watch some of conference tournament games in NCAA basketball and go out with California Girl since its Saturday night; but I’ll try and find photograph to accompany this geeky post late tonight or tomorrow.

There were some relatively widespread outages in our service area; so, when we called it in, someone actually came out and worked on some of the equipment outside. Unfortunately he the cleared the outage without bothering to knock on the door and verify that the problem was actually fixed which is wasn’t. So I had to call them again and make arrangements for someone to come out again on Tuesday. Our “window” during which we could expect the technician was 7:30AM to 9:30PM. He showed up at about 3:00 in the afternoon which we thought was good since we’re having a snowstorm and the roads were bad in many residential areas. Since we’re posting this, he was obviously able to fix the problem.

All is not yet well. The tech swapped the box in the home theater (which was being recalled) with one we can’t change the channel on. It turns on and off; but, no matter what key is pressed, it stays on the same channel. So now I’ll need to make arrangements to exchange it for yet another box. I’m already having problems with some of the equipment so this is yet one more thing that I’ll need to take care of. And, of course, we missed the national championship game on Monday night. Plus, California Girl works from home, and there isn’t muchanything she can do without an internet connection. So she is way, way behind in her work. And, to make it a totally crapastic day, when I was walking back to work after my lunchtime boxing class, someone whizzed through a big puddle of slush in the curb lane and threw goo from the road all over me.

As I always say, tomorrow is another day. I’m really hoping that it will be a better one.

P.S. Since this day hasn’t been much fun, our normal Tuesday feature will appear on Wednesday.

It was only a few months ago that I was complaining that Google changed the way that OpenID works for leaving authenticated comments. They changed things again on Sunday or Monday so once again I couldn’t leave comments on anyone’s Blogger blog. Of course they never announce their changes beforehand or even say what they changed; so the only way to know is that things suddenly stop working. It takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what changed and implement a fix. I know that its “free” but it’s becoming more and more troublesome of you use another blogging platform.

Things are finally fixed now so I’ve returned to normally scheduled programming. That means our HNT post will be published shortly.

It’s usually not a problem being your own system administrator except when you spend all evening trying to fix a problem with your mail server; only to discover that it’s actual a problem on the receiving system. Monday was one of those days. Email was/is a great innovation. But problems are very difficult to diagnose because of all of the servers involved. It’s all fixed now; but I’d much rather have been doing something a lot more fun.

We received everything. It was only replies in certain situations that were not being delivered. So, if you sent us an email recently and haven’t yet received a response, look for a reply very soon.

Went over 2,000,000 Visitors which is a lot for us.
Created and published one of our favorite Two For Tuesday photo posts of the year.

Created and published our favorite HNT video post of the year.
Updated our theme to support threaded comments.
Posted a true click through HNT.

May
Posted our version of Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater on the Titanic.

Celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary by going to dinner at our favorite restaurant.

June
Reminisced about the days that we used to watch us having sex in the mirror.

Had some good pool weather for one of the few times this past summer.

July
Posted a video edition of our Independence Day Sex series.

I weighed 164 pounds on the scale at the doctor’s office.

Repaired the car that The Girl drives after it dropped dead and smoke started coming form underneath the hood.
Visited a college with The Girl. Realized how close we are to becoming “empty nesters”.

October
Had a LOT of problems after upgrading our server to PHP 5.3. The upgrade also broke our OpenId sever too.
Started working on the project from hell at work. It’s still radioactive.

November
Added a visitor map to the blog that showed where their visitors were from. Check it out in the sidebar just below the local weather.
Took some fun photos of California Girl changing one of the spotlights in the kitchen

Posted one of my one of my favorite photographs of California Girl for the week of Thanksgiving’s HNT.

December
Published an illustrated post explaining our “bedcam”setup”.

Got a new HDTV to replace our old one which started smoking and had a burning electrical smell.
Created and published the fourth edition of our Christmas Vacation Sexseries.

I’m sure that I have found the root cause; however, I won’t know until we don’t have any crashes for a while that my solution corrects the problem. It seems like I have been working on it forever; but it’s actually only been a week. If indeed it is fixed, I should be able to do more surfing and less tinkering in the coming days.

That’s for two reasons. Firstly, our OpenId server was broken after the most recent upgrade so I couldn’t; comment on Blogger blogs that don’t allow anonymous comments. And secondly, the server which hosts Married In Ohio has been intermittently crashing. So, I’ve been busy trying to fix things. I’ve resolved the first issue; but the solution second one continues to elude me. The server restarts automatically so hopefully it hasn’t been too much of a nuisance for everyone. I’ve got some possible ideas; but it’s taking a long time to work though everything. I’d much rather be spending time with California Girl; especially when she’s waiting for me like this.
