One of the good things about the recent heat wave is that its GREAT weather to get in the pool. We don’t need to do anything except put on our swimsuits and get in. We don’t need to run the heater and there’s been very little wind so not much has blown into the pool that needs to be vacuumed up. It’s a bit hard to keep the chlorine levels up since it evaporates so fast; but I check and adjust it every day anyway.

It’s nice knowing that tomorrow and the next day are good days to swim and we don’t need to stay in until sundown because we don’t know when the next good pool day will be. And then when it does get “cool” we fire up the grill and make dinner. There have been some blips (like last Monday); but July was a good month. And Sunday was might be a “best ever”.

Except for one day when it rained (and we went to the movies) we had fabulous pool weather. Lots of sun with temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s. Since it was so hot and everyone else was inside in the air conditioning, we decided to take some risqué photographs in the pool. We are an adventurous couple; but this is Ohio, and we don’t want any “excitement” on our vacation.

P.S. We know we should have published this post earlier since we took the pictures on Sunday; but, we are still getting back to a regular schedule after being on vacation for so long.

It rained on Saturday; but Sunday and Monday were warm and sunny. We had planned on going to the movies, but decided to get outside and enjoy the weather instead since there have been so few good days this spring. We got in the pool and grilled out and got in the pool both days. We can’t remember the last time the weather was good enough for us to swim on consecutive days. After days weeks of gray, wet days we finally had some burning sun. We didn’t run as fast as we usually do in the hot, humid air on our Sunday morning run; but we had a wonderful time lounging in the pool when we were finished. Dinner was burgers, brats and grilled chicken breasts. It was definitely the best of times.

Had an occasion to do the Snoopy Dance because of something that happened at work.
Took a cool photograph of California Girl with the flowers she received at The Girl’s last senior night.

We reviewed the proofs of The Girl’s senior photographs and made our selections. It was a bit discomforting how rapidly her high school days were winding down.

February
Commemorated the fifth anniversary of MarriedInOhio.Com.
MarriedInOhio.Com went over 2,500,000 visitors.
Took some neat photographs for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday in the aftermath of a huge snowstorm we had.

March
The Girl had an epiphany and decided where she wanted to attend college. It hadn’t really started to sink in how different things were going to be without any kids around.
Decided to see if I could hold up a hat with no hands for Two For Tuesday.

Worked on a special project for California Girl that kept me busy in the evenings. We still found time for our weekly photo session.

April
Changed the image in the “About Us” area of our sidebar. We haven’t changed much wanted to create a new one since the photograph was many years old. We posted the candidates that we were considering for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Went on a 900 mile round road trip with The Girl for an out of state soccer tournament. Then two weeks later, watched The Girl win the last trophy of her club soccer career.

May
Celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. Went out to eat at our favorite restaurant. Posted a photo from our anniversary dinner for Two For Tuesday.

The Girl graduated high school. Then the next day, she registered for classes in the fall and got her college ID.
Got a new camera. Took nekkid photographs of ourselves to test it out.

June
Wore boxing gloves in one of our more interesting Two For Tuesday posts.
The swimming pool is still where we retreat when things aren’t going as well as we would like in the real world.
For Half Nekkid Thursday we did a documentary of our bedcam setup.

July
Created and published our favorite HNT photo post of the year.
Practiced being empty nesters. Posted a NSFW tour of our home for Two For Tuesday culminating with a grand finale in the study for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Photographed and posted a lot of pictures of California Girl in a bikini showing her summer tan lines for Two For Tuesday and HNT.

August
Finally got an Android smartphone. California Girl got a Droid too. We should have upgraded years ago!
Installed a special, mobile friendly theme for Androids and iPhones.
Took both kids to school and officially became empty nesters. Posted about our first pizza night without kids for Two For Tuesday.

September
Posted some cool sexting photographs for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Watched The Girl play soccer at the next level in college. We’re not in Kansan any more, they play rough.
Got another new camera. Again took some NSFW photographs of ourselves to test it.

October
Discovered that I still own a hairbrush despite not needing to use one in years.
Went to Florida for vacation. Posted some photos from our trip for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday.

Added a new hard drive to the server. The old one was getting filled up since we have posted so many pictures over the years.

November
Took another “instant favorite” photograph of California Girl.
California Girl changed the color of her hair. Heather was the first person to notice.

Decorated the Christmas tree on the Saturday after Thanksgiving now that both kids are in school. Posted a NSFW Christmas card style photo for Two For Tuesday.

December
Made an animated slide show of some of our recent photographs using JavaScript.

It was wonderful. Especially since we’ve both been working so hard and haven’t had a lot of time to relax. It’s been a rainy spring. We’re hoping that the start of summer will herald great pool weather.

Celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary by going to dinner at our favorite restaurant.

Reminisced about the days that we used to watch us having sex in the mirror.

Had some good pool weather for one of the few times this past summer.

Repaired the car that The Girl drives after it dropped dead and smoke started coming form underneath the hood.
Visited a college with The Girl. Realized how close we are to becoming “empty nesters”.

October
Had a LOT of problems after upgrading our server to PHP 5.3. The upgrade also broke our OpenId sever too.
Started working on the project from hell at work. It’s still radioactive.

November
Added a visitor map to the blog that showed where their visitors were from. Check it out in the sidebar just below the local weather.
Took some fun photos of California Girl changing one of the spotlights in the kitchen

Posted one of my one of my favorite photographs of California Girl for the week of Thanksgiving’s HNT.

Published an illustrated post explaining our “bedcam”setup”.

Got a new HDTV to replace our old one which started smoking and had a burning electrical smell.

It’s always a bit depressing looking outside and seeing the winter cover on it. It really does mark the end of summer. We didn’t get in it as much this year because of the unusually cool summer; but it was always soothing too look out and see the clear, inviting water. Now it seems like the cold, hard winter is just around the corner. We turned on the fireplace for the first time when we got home after sitting out at the The Girl’s soccer game today. (We probably should have turned it on after the monsoon we were in at the football game on Friday; but were too busy drying things out.) We like the burning hot days of summer best of all even though we didn’t have as many of them as we wanted. Thankfully, unlike so many other things which are ending forever, there is always next year.

We had assumed that the Saturday of Labor Day weekend was our final swim of the year; so I was surprised and please when California Girl called and suggested that it might be warm enough to get in the pool and asked if I wanted her to turn on the heater. We took a few photos to mark the symbolic “closing” of our pool. We’ve got our swim suits on so, unlike many of our Two For Tuesday photographs, the pictures are SFW. For come gratuitous but fun nakedness, check back on Thursday.

We had our weekly photo session when we came inside. It was good to be back on our regular schedule. :D

We went for our customary Sunday run in the park; got in the pool for a while in the afternoon; and concluded the day with a sumptuous meal at my mother’s house. About the only thing “wrong” was that I slept in late so it was already 86°F by the time that we left for our run. Although she doesn’t consider herself a runner California Girl is very dedicated. We didn’t go quite as fast as we usually do; but 5.5 miles in the burning sun when it’s almost 90°F is still impressive. A lot of women (and many men) would have stayed home in the air conditioning. She just took a cool shower when we got home; then we got in the pool.

We love our pool on days like today. The water was warm enough to be comfortable but cool enough to still be refreshing. And knowing that we had a good workout made it all the more enjoyable. We didn’t stay in as long as we did last weekend just to be sure that California Girl didn’t aggravate her sunburn. And, for once, The Girl was home all day so we didn’t have to look at our watches or listen for the phone. We’ve only got a few more weeks before The Boy goes back to school. So it was nice to relax and not worry about anything. Days like today don’t come around too often.

If it doesn’t rain, we should be able to get into the pool every day next week. Sunday is forecast to be 91°F which is almost perfect. We just need to go for our run early in the morning so we don’t melt. And, that will give us more time in the pool.

Of course, the hot weather is not good for The Girl since she’ll be starting two-a-days for soccer on Monday. The first game of the season is only a few weeks away so the need the practice; but it won’t be much any fun with daytime temperatures in 80s. I don’t mind the heat but The Girl, The Boy and California Girl like to exercise when it’s cooler. In fact, California Girl always makes a point of workout before it gets too hot; but I prefer running in the early afternoon (just after lunch time).

In techie news, I finally updated our theme to better present the hierarchy of threaded comments. You may recall that I enable threaded comments a few months ago; but didn’t change the template. It’s now much easier to follow replies. I’ve been pretty good about replying to comments since I enabled the “reply to comment” option so it seemed like a good time to update the theme. I also added borders and changed the background colors. We think it looks pretty good. Please let us know what you think.
