I was able to find some Gynol II at a local drugstore after all. I purchased the last tube; but the pharmacist said that that it’s an item that they normally carry; so hopefully they will restock. We won’t need any for a while anyway since I had already placed an internet order for several tubes. So, we had our normal Saturday morning fun. And a good time was had by all.

Diaphragm Blues

Meijer no longer stocks Gynol II, the contraceptive jelly, California Girl uses with her diaphragm. We called drugstore after drugstore and couldn’t find any place that carried it. We’ve ordered some on the internet; but it won’t be here before the middle of next week at the earliest. It looks like the tube has 2-3 more applications which is not enough for a week; especially with the weekend coming up. It looks like I’ll be checking out the prophylactics aisle on my way home from work.

Twenty twelve. We’ve been in the “new millennia” for a long time but I years starting with twenty still seem strange.

We still haven’t taken down our Christmas tree; mostly we’re not in a hurry to mark the end of the holiday season. I’m sure that we’ll end up taking take a day or two off sometime this winter; but our next true vacation won’t be until July.

I didn’t blog much on Sunday because our computer has been crashing a lot recently and I was trying not to use it while the backup I started on Saturday night was still running. Unfortunately, my curiosity got the better of me and I logged in to check the progress at which point it immediately crashed which, of course, killed the backup which had been running all day. I was NOT happy.

The Bengals backed into the playoffs despite losing the last game of the regular season. So now, they’re off to Houston to play a team that beat them by 1 point on the final play of the game. No matter what happens this has been a great season. They have definitely proven the pundits wrong.

It snowed today with more in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Snow isn’t an unusual occurrence during the winter around here; but it really does put an exclamation mark on the New Year and the end of our vacation.

Just Stay Home

We all know the mnemonic “spring forward, fall back” for Daylight Savings Time. Unfortunately, for me it should probably be “just stay home”. Today was not a good day even for a Monday. I never get a good night’s sleep after the time change. I’m fine on Sunday when I don’t have to get up; but I keep waking up during the night on days that I have to go to work. Unlike some people who just have to set their clocks; my body takes a long time to adjust. I fact, I was so discombobulated this morning that I forget to take my medicine before I left for work. I’d like nothing more than to curl up on the couch for the rest of the evening; unluckily, I’ve got to do my final research for tomorrow’s election. Hopefully that won’t take too long.

Long Time No See

It’s been a while since we last posted but California Girl and I are still alive and well. The fall is usually a bust time for us; but, so far, September has been very hectic, even for us. The relaxing days of this past summer are a rapidly fading memory. Labor Day weekend was great; but the last long weekend of the summer seems much longer ago than just two weeks.

And, when I’ve have had some free time, I’ve been working on some of the “internals” of our web site. Some of which I should have done months ago; but was too busy enjoying the summer. I enjoy tinkering with the behind the scenes stuff; but it’s not as entertaining as a NSFW photo session (especially for visitors).

Anyway, as I am fond of saying “it’s all good; just a bit different”. We hope to catch up on blogging and Facebooking in the coming days. And look for some “extra” photo posts too.

California Girl and I really enjoyed celebrating our 23^rd anniversary this past weekend. It doesn’t’ seem like we have been together 28 years. We are proud that we’ve made our marriage last that long. And that it’s still a relationship of love rather than a relationship of convenience. I’m not sure what life would be like if we never had met; but I know it would not be as good as it has been. So happy anniversary to my wife. You will always be the one for me.

Back On Our Summer Schedule

It’s not Memorial Day weekend yet; but, with both kids being home from college, California Girl and I have begun our “summer schedule”. So, for the next three months or so, we’ll primarily be publishing our Two For Tuesday post on Wednesday evening. Tuesday is a busy day for us. We don’t mind the late night, we do it most of the year; however, for some real life considerations, Wednesday will generally be better day for our photo sessions. So, check back tomorrow for this week’s TFT post. Random Wednesday postings may or may not be published on Wednesday.

Happy Easter

We know that not everyone who reads this blog is Christian; but we still wanted to wish everyone a happy Easter!

Easter Sunday is later in the month this year than it has been the past few years but it is still a good time to pause and reflect on the coming year. Lawnmower and car problems aside, everything is going well. California Girl and I survived another year without being a victim of “right-sizing”. And both kids are concluding excellent school years. We hope that the summer will to be the best ever for us.

A Double Adventure

That’s how The Girl suggested we categorize the car problems we had on Friday evening. First, the car that she usually drives wouldn’t shift out of park. The brake shift interlock has “stuck” in the past; but, yesterday, it wouldn’t budge. So, she used the car that California Girl usually drives for errands. I peeled the center console and was in the midst of “fixing” the BSTI when the phone rang. The Girl was broken down on the side of the road in the pouring rain on the way to the grocery store. I hopped into the one drivable vehicle and drove up to check things out. Somehow, the serpentine belt had come off of everything. It wasn’t in the best shape; but looked good enough to get the car back home. So I went back to the house and got every tool I thought I might need… except for an 18mm socket which, of course, was the size I needed for the bolt on the tensioner assembly. I’ve replaced the belt before as a part of normal maintenance so I was sure that I had a socket to fit; but since it we were starting to lose the light, I went to Lowes and purchased a new one rather than go home and hunt for it. I got everything put back together and got the vehicle home; but it was so late (and I was so aggravated) that we ended up going out to eat.

Today (Saturday) was a lot better. I replaced the belt with a brand new one in our warm, dry garage. I also replaced the belt on the other car even though it wasn’t due, just in case, since the college The Girl goes to is far away and we would have to pay someone to do the repair if it broke while she was at school. I also finished my “repair” of the shift interlock which is to say that the faulty part is in a drawer of my tool box. The car is “old school” now. You can shift it out of park without having your foot on the brake (even though that would be really, really stupid). No one seems to make a replacement part, both the manufacturer and their dealer network went out of business years ago and I wouldn’t trust a part from a junk yard to not do the same thing. It’s kinda an idiot switch; but I still reminded The Girl to be careful. She should always apply the brake before shifting anyway since you have to for all our other cars so I’m not too worried; but I would be happier if a replacement part were available.

PS. I’m ODing on jelly beans now that I’m done working on things.

I unexpectedly had to do the homeowner thing this evening; plus, with the time change, California Girl was already feeling a bit discombobulated, so we decided to reschedule this week’s photo session for Tomorrow (Wednesday). We got a Gorillapod (flexible tripod) on Monday and don’t want to be in a rush when we are trying it out. Our newest super zoom camera is too big for it; but we should be able to get some ~~interesting~~ up close and personal shots with our sub compact camera. Stay tuned.
