  1. We are participating in Internet Blackout Day on Wednesday so Married In Ohio will be “dark” from 8:00AM to 8:00PM. During that time, this entire site as well as many others across the internet will be censored/blocked to protest SOPA/PIPA.
  2. It’s been a busy day/week here in Married In Ohio land so we will be holding our photo session on Wednesday rather than Tuesday. As a result, our Two For Tuesday and post will be published a day later than normal. We will not be doing Random Wednesday this week.

P.S. We are empty nesters once again. Good for taking pictures; but bad for other things.

California Girl and I have thoroughly enjoyed participating as posters and as followers. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Osbasso for organizing and running it for almost seven years. That is a monumental achievement. California Girl and I wondered how to best commemorate our final HNT. We thought about taking photographs in a variety of places; but nothing seemed worthy. Ultimately, we decided that the best tribute would be to highlight our HNT photos over the years. For the finale, we created a Flash movie of all of our primary HNT photos. The picture changes faster than normal so it’s not too long.

Unfortunately, for me it should probably be “just stay home”. Today was not a good day even for a Monday. I never get a good night’s sleep after the time change. I’m fine on Sunday when I don’t have to get up; but I keep waking up during the night on days that I have to go to work. Unlike some people who just have to set their clocks; my body takes a long time to adjust. I fact, I was so discombobulated this morning that I forget to take my medicine before I left for work. I’d like nothing more than to curl up on the couch for the rest of the evening; unluckily, I’ve got to do my final research for tomorrow’s election. Hopefully that won’t take too long.

Easter Sunday is later in the month this year than it has been the past few years but it is still a good time to pause and reflect on the coming year. Lawnmower and car problems aside, everything is going well. California Girl and I survived another year without being a victim of “right-sizing”. And both kids are concluding excellent school years. We hope that the summer will to be the best ever for us.

It was at least an inch thick everywhere and over two inches thick in some places. I also wore away about an inch from the end of the steel shovel I was using. I hope that we don’t have another ice storm for a long, long time.

Of course it never fails that, whenever I need to use it, the battery pack for my drill is discharged. (And the corded one is, of course, loaned to someone who never returns things.) So, replacing the handle is more of a nuisance than it should be. I could always use brute force to remove the broken handle from the head; but, after the past few days, I’m really tired of beating and prying on things.

I’ll be rooting for the Packers today. As a Bengals fan I don’t like the Steelers. And I have no respect for their abusive, misogynistic QB. If a regular person did what he did, they would be watching the big game from a jail cell.

We’re slowly building our Blu-ray video library. I wish there were more “good” movies scheduled for release. We’re not replacing our DVD collection; we just started buying Blu-rays instead of DVDs. So we only get a BD if there is a movie that we want.

I’m going to watch the SuperBowl. I’ll add a photo if I have time later this evening after the game is over.

A thaw is not expected in the near future so I’ll be slowly chipping away at the ice for as long as it takes and it’s going to take a long, long time. We are warm and safe.  We hope that everyone else is too.

Had an occasion to do the Snoopy Dance because of something that happened at work.
Took a cool photograph of California Girl with the flowers she received at The Girl’s last senior night.

We reviewed the proofs of The Girl’s senior photographs and made our selections. It was a bit discomforting how rapidly her high school days were winding down.

February
Commemorated the fifth anniversary of MarriedInOhio.Com.
MarriedInOhio.Com went over 2,500,000 visitors.
Took some neat photographs for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday in the aftermath of a huge snowstorm we had.

March
The Girl had an epiphany and decided where she wanted to attend college. It hadn’t really started to sink in how different things were going to be without any kids around.
Decided to see if I could hold up a hat with no hands for Two For Tuesday.

Worked on a special project for California Girl that kept me busy in the evenings. We still found time for our weekly photo session.

April
Changed the image in the “About Us” area of our sidebar. We haven’t changed much wanted to create a new one since the photograph was many years old. We posted the candidates that we were considering for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Went on a 900 mile round road trip with The Girl for an out of state soccer tournament. Then two weeks later, watched The Girl win the last trophy of her club soccer career.

May
Celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. Went out to eat at our favorite restaurant. Posted a photo from our anniversary dinner for Two For Tuesday.

The Girl graduated high school. Then the next day, she registered for classes in the fall and got her college ID.
Got a new camera. Took nekkid photographs of ourselves to test it out.

June
Wore boxing gloves in one of our more interesting Two For Tuesday posts.
The swimming pool is still where we retreat when things aren’t going as well as we would like in the real world.
For Half Nekkid Thursday we did a documentary of our bedcam setup.

July
Created and published our favorite HNT photo post of the year.
Practiced being empty nesters. Posted a NSFW tour of our home for Two For Tuesday culminating with a grand finale in the study for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Photographed and posted a lot of pictures of California Girl in a bikini showing her summer tan lines for Two For Tuesday and HNT.

August
Finally got an Android smartphone. California Girl got a Droid too. We should have upgraded years ago!
Installed a special, mobile friendly theme for Androids and iPhones.
Took both kids to school and officially became empty nesters. Posted about our first pizza night without kids for Two For Tuesday.

September
Posted some cool sexting photographs for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Watched The Girl play soccer at the next level in college. We’re not in Kansan any more, they play rough.
Got another new camera. Again took some NSFW photographs of ourselves to test it.

October
Discovered that I still own a hairbrush despite not needing to use one in years.
Went to Florida for vacation. Posted some photos from our trip for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday.

Added a new hard drive to the server. The old one was getting filled up since we have posted so many pictures over the years.

November
Took another “instant favorite” photograph of California Girl.
California Girl changed the color of her hair. Heather was the first person to notice.

Decorated the Christmas tree on the Saturday after Thanksgiving now that both kids are in school. Posted a NSFW Christmas card style photo for Two For Tuesday.

December
Made an animated slide show of some of our recent photographs using JavaScript.

Wow, 4 years went by quickly. It almost seems like yesterday that we were taking her to soccer practice before her freshman year. The Girl has a summer birthday so she’s not yet 18; so, although it doesn’t seem that way to us, she’s basically “grown woman”. I didn’t shed a tear; or feel sad during graduation; that may happen later when she’s off to college. This summer “feels” different, probably because of the uncertainty that lies at the end. She’s still got another weekend soccer tournament; the last one ever. Even through she’ll be going to college and has four more years of studying and hard work ahead of her; we are very proud of her. High school graduation is a milestone and a rite of passage that symbolizes entrance into adulthood.
