As you know, today is the last day for Half Nekkid Thursday. Today is our 330th and final post. California Girl and I have thoroughly enjoyed participating as posters and as followers. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Osbasso for organizing and running it for almost seven years. That is a monumental achievement. California Girl and I wondered how to best commemorate our final HNT. We thought about taking photographs in a variety of places; but nothing seemed worthy. Ultimately, we decided that the best tribute would be to highlight our HNT photos over the years. For the finale, we created a Flash movie of all of our primary HNT photos. The picture changes faster than normal so it’s not too long.

2010 A Year In Review

January
Had an occasion to do the Snoopy Dance because of something that happened at work.
Took a cool photograph of California Girl with the flowers she received at The Girl’s last senior night.

We reviewed the proofs of The Girl’s senior photographs and made our selections. It was a bit discomforting how rapidly her high school days were winding down.

February
Commemorated the fifth anniversary of MarriedInOhio.Com.
MarriedInOhio.Com went over 2,500,000 visitors.
Took some neat photographs for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday in the aftermath of a huge snowstorm we had.

March
The Girl had an epiphany and decided where she wanted to attend college. It hadn’t really started to sink in how different things were going to be without any kids around.
Decided to see if I could hold up a hat with no hands for Two For Tuesday.

Worked on a special project for California Girl that kept me busy in the evenings. We still found time for our weekly photo session.

April
Changed the image in the “About Us” area of our sidebar. We haven’t changed much wanted to create a new one since the photograph was many years old. We posted the candidates that we were considering for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Went on a 900 mile round road trip with The Girl for an out of state soccer tournament. Then two weeks later, watched The Girl win the last trophy of her club soccer career.

May
Celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. Went out to eat at our favorite restaurant. Posted a photo from our anniversary dinner for Two For Tuesday.

The Girl graduated high school. Then the next day, she registered for classes in the fall and got her college ID.
Got a new camera. Took nekkid photographs of ourselves to test it out.

June
Wore boxing gloves in one of our more interesting Two For Tuesday posts.
The swimming pool is still where we retreat when things aren’t going as well as we would like in the real world.
For Half Nekkid Thursday we did a documentary of our bedcam setup.

July
Created and published our favorite HNT photo post of the year.
Practiced being empty nesters. Posted a NSFW tour of our home for Two For Tuesday culminating with a grand finale in the study for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Photographed and posted a lot of pictures of California Girl in a bikini showing her summer tan lines for Two For Tuesday and HNT.

August
Finally got an Android smartphone. California Girl got a Droid too. We should have upgraded years ago!
Installed a special, mobile friendly theme for Androids and iPhones.
Took both kids to school and officially became empty nesters. Posted about our first pizza night without kids for Two For Tuesday.

September
Posted some cool sexting photographs for Half Nekkid Thursday.

Watched The Girl play soccer at the next level in college. We’re not in Kansan any more, they play rough.
Got another new camera. Again took some NSFW photographs of ourselves to test it.

October
Discovered that I still own a hairbrush despite not needing to use one in years.
Went to Florida for vacation. Posted some photos from our trip for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday.

Added a new hard drive to the server. The old one was getting filled up since we have posted so many pictures over the years.

November
Took another “instant favorite” photograph of California Girl.
California Girl changed the color of her hair. Heather was the first person to notice.

Decorated the Christmas tree on the Saturday after Thanksgiving now that both kids are in school. Posted a NSFW Christmas card style photo for Two For Tuesday.

December
Made an animated slide show of some of our recent photographs using JavaScript.

Two Kids in College

The Girl had her last club soccer game this weekend. She won’t “officially” be an adult for another month or so; but I feel a lot older than I did last week. In just a few days, she’s graduated high school, got her college identification card, registered for classes this coming fall and found someone to room with. She went from being in the midst of high school to being well along on her preparations for college. California Girl and I have already started looking for a dorm-size TV (Her roommate is getting the refrigerator.) It’s good that she got everything taken care of so early; but it really brings home a reality that I wasn’t planning on facing until the fall.

Another School Year

We got home late last night/early this morning back from taking The Boy back to college. He was excited to begin his sophomore year and we plan to visit him before too long; so it really didn’t sink in that he was gone for another school year until we got home to a much emptier house. His bedroom and the kid’s study both seemed deserted. Now that he’s done it once before, he did a very good job of packing and deciding what to bring and what to leave at home. And since gave some old clothes to Goodwill and threw away a bunch of school stuff from high school and his freshman year things looked even emptier. We both rally enjoyed having him home for this past summer. As popular as summer coops and internships are becoming, this may have been his last summer at home. It was good but it definitely wasn’t long enough. And, with The Girl starting her senior year, it may have been “just like old times” for the last time.

No Surprises This Year

We ended up giving The Boy his birthday presents early this year. We had ordered a 22-inch LCD monitor and a set of powered speakers for his laptop. Unfortunately, the shipment was delivered while California Girl and I were in the pool and the monitor was not packed inside another box. There wasn’t any point in waiting until his actual birthday since his laptop is the only computer that “needs” a monitor. We could have delayed giving him the speakers since they were still a surprise; but it seemed pointless to wait and make him rearrange the desk twice.

He really likes his new computer accessories. His laptop is fast and powerful; but only has a 15-inch display. Good for portability; but not the best for desktop use. And the speakers make music should much better. He’s got an excellent system for an 18 soon to be 19-year old college student.

So far, it’s been a good summer for The Boy. He got outstanding grades his freshman year and earned a summer of rest and relaxation. He doesn’t have anything to do and sleeps in as late as he wants. The fall term will start in a couple of months. But, until then, he can enjoy the rewards of his hard work.

Back to College

The Boy has gone back to college. It’s hard to believe but his freshman year is almost over. He’s got midterms starting next week and finals in just over a month. It’s crazy. It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were moving him into the dorms. Soon, we will be moving him back home for the summer. He’s worked hard his first year so his grades are outstanding. We know he’s looking forward toward a summer of sleeping in and having nothing to do when he finally wakes up. The way things turned out this semester he ended up with a couple of evening classes despite having classes 8:00 A.M. So, he has a lot of long days. I was joking with him that it’s a lot like taking kids to their activities after a long day of work. It seems like a long way off; but he’s only got a few more years of summer vacation then it’s the real world with nothing but a few weeks of vacation for him. So we really hope he is enjoying his college days.

2008 A Year In Review

January
The Girl got her learner’s permit and The Boy earned a scholarship to college. It really started to sink in how different things are going to be in a few years months.

February
Celebrated the three year anniversary of Married In Ohio.
The Boy wrestled in his final wrestling meet and perhaps the last competitive event of his career.
St Valentine’s Day was on a Thursday which made for a very festive Valentine’s Day HNT.

March
Finally changed our theme after almost two years.
March was unofficial Two For Tuesday video month as we ended up postingthree portionsof a longer video in TFT -126, TFT – 126 and TFT – 127.

Had road head to commemorate spring finally arriving.

Took a hiatus to deal with some issues in real life. It’s good to know that we were missed.

May
Ran in the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half-Marathon for the 6^th consecutive year.
Celebrated our 20^th wedding anniversary.

Posted this photo to put a figurative thumb in the eye of peoplewho disapprove of interracial relationships.

June
The Boy graduated from high school.
Got in the swimming pool to celebrate the arrival of summer.

July
Helped The Boy set up his first web site. It’s about computerish stuff as he calls it.
The Girl had a huge party for her sweet sixteen.
The matching wristwatches that we got for our anniversary and their first appearance.
Had sex outside next to a large rock.

August
Inadvertently became the owner of two laptops.
The Boy went off to college.
Had the house to ourselves for awhile.

September
Had sex by candlelight because of the power outage caused by the windstorm from Hurricane Ike.

Got a new digital camera. Because it’s us, one of the first photographs is of California Girl giving me a blow job.

October
California Girl and I had fabulous hotel sex while visiting our alma mater for homecoming. We previewed it in HNT – 162 and HNT – 163 before doing a full photo post.

Tried to decide which digital camera to use for NSFW photos.

November
The longest presidential election in U.S. history is finally over.

The ravages of time finally caught up with me and I started wearing bifocals.
The Boy came home from college for Thanksgiving and, for awhile, it was just like old times.
I changed the theme for the second time in less than a year.

December
The Boy got all As but one in his first semester of college.
California Girl was anice and naughty Santa for Christmas.

Grades Are Posted

Grades are posted and The Boy did very well in his first semester of college. We were a little bit worried because the first one that was available was his lowest mark; but he got “A”s in all of his other courses including his honors classes. He was a good student in high school but college is much more difficult. So it was good to see him doing well despite having to adjust to life away from home. Unlike many kids his age, he seems to grasp the importance of getting off to a good start; and that a poor performance in the early days can have lasting repercussions. And since he took Calculus II, the most difficult of the required math classes, this fall and got it out of the way we expect that he will do even better in the spring. We are his parents so we’re biased; but he continues to be impressive academically. And, he doesn’t have a girlfriend (so far as we know) so he doesn’t have any extra distractions.

On His Own

California Girl and I went to visit The Boy over the long weekend. He’s only been gone for a couple of weeks; but it was still good to see him. He seems to be adjusting well to life on his own. He seemed a lot older and a lot more confident than he was when we left him. Except for the huge pile of laundry in the corner he was adjusting well to college life. (Or perhaps that is the way of college students.) While we were on campus, I was struck by how different this year is from years gone by. It was warm enough to get into the pool; but, instead of relaxing in the back yard, we were walking around on a college campus. Except for the size, the campus is very similar to the one where I went to school. Although we think he’s more like his mother; perhaps he’s more like me than we think.

Except for the fact that the hotel which we had reservations was overbooked and we had to spend the night after we arrived at a dump until rooms became available at our preferred location, I really enjoyed our visit. With all of the restaurants and shops that cater to students so close by, college life is so convenient. Where we live, you have to get in a car to go anywhere. The closest bus stop is miles away. So, everything being in walking distance was a nice change.

I don’t know when we’ll get back to see him. He is adapting very well. Unfortunately, his mom, his sister, and I, are still getting used to him being gone.

Last Pizza Night

We had the last pizza night for The Boy today. This time next week, he’ll be college bound. California Girl and I really didn’t think about it until The Girl mentioned that today would be his last family pizza night for awhile. The current phase is ending and a new chapter is about to begin. We’re proud that he’s ready to take the next step and think that he’ll do fine; but we’re still going to miss him.
