We mentioned this past Saturday that California Girl got a smartphone and that it would be coming soon to a photo shoot near you. This has been an exceptionally busy week for us; but we still wanted to post some pictures of her with her phone. With being “empty nesters” becoming eminent, we thought that it would be fun to experiment with the permanent placement of our “bedcam”. We need a spot that’s not too much in the way yet still has most of the room within its field of view. The photos below were taken with the camera positioned in our first option. We’ll try different places in upcoming photo sessions. What do you think of the angle?

Sunday was the last time that the “Fab Four” will be together for a while. The Girl will start classes soon and orientation has already started. It’s hard for us to believe that we have TWO kids in college. It doesn’t seem that long ago that The Boy was starting high elementary school. I know that they’re “grown”. After all, I do things like go to boxing class with them. But, to me, she’ll always be that little girl who years ago when we were having a series of heavy snowstorms that were cancelling school and work said with such excitement that “There’s snow outside almost every day Daddy!”

California Girl got a Droid phone too! She had been planning to keep her old phone for a while longer; but really liked the capabilities of the Phones with the Android OS, so we purchased a smartphone for her on Friday. After having a basic feature phone for so many years, the technology is amazing. It was a bit finicky to set up but it’s a very useful device. It will come in handy when we’re on the road visiting the kids; especially if we need to use the mobile banking app to transfer some money into one of their accounts. We spent a while today and last night getting it set up. The Android MarketPlace was down for a so we couldn’t install some of the apps that help with setup. It looks a bit intimidating at first but it really is easy to use. She’s really happy that she decided to upgrade.
P.S. We definitely plan to post photos of her showing off her new phone next week.

Once both kids are in school, we’ll probably leave our bedcam set up all of the time so that it’s easier to photograph things spontaneously. Since the only thing that we need to do is turn it on, we’ll probably make more movies too. Unlike now when we’ve temporarily been having our photo session on Wednesday night, every day will be photo day. After one more Wednesday photo session we’ll return to our regular schedule In September. Here’s one of our favorite types of photos no matter when it is taken.
