HNT – 330

As you know, today is the last day for Half Nekkid Thursday. Today is our 330th and final post. California Girl and I have thoroughly enjoyed participating as posters and as followers. We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Osbasso for organizing and running it for almost seven years. That is a monumental achievement. California Girl and I wondered how to best commemorate our final HNT. We thought about taking photographs in a variety of places; but nothing seemed worthy. Ultimately, we decided that the best tribute would be to highlight our HNT photos over the years. For the finale, we created a Flash movie of all of our primary HNT photos. The picture changes faster than normal so it’s not too long.

We mentioned yesterday that we would probably be posting more videos now that we have a better editor. It’s really nice to be able to easily edit and transcode movies. Now that we’ve identified an editor, our biggest problem is the fact we can only make a 10-11 minute high definition movie or the resulting file is too big for the file system of the memory card. So we can’t capture as much of our sessions as we would like. Even after editing, the clips are HUGE and much too big to post; but it’s nice having them for our library.

We wanted to post a single move for today; unfortunately, the file was too large to post so we are splitting it up into three sections. Unlike some of our creations in the past, these clips all have good audio. We hope that the videos aren’t loading too slowly for you to enjoy.

Two For Tuesday – 311

I didn’t realize it at the time of our last post; but the latest versions of Corel VideoStudio Pro include some filters from NewBlueFX including their pixelator. I received a trial copy plus a 10% discount on the registered version with my purchase of Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3. Amazingly, VideoStudio Pro X4 costs less than the NewBlueFX Essentials even though it includes many of their popular plugins. Anyway, once we discovered that we had a video pixelator with key frame support handy, we couldn’t wait to try it out. So, we made a few NSFW videos in our photo session. Here is a portion of our first test video. The quality of the move is higher than what we usually post since we aren’t relying on compression for anonymization. The file is bigger (and slower to download); but we think that increased quality is worth the additional size. What do you think of our first attempt?

To celebrate our successful resolution of our slow page load issue, California Girl and I are posting another video. We have made lots movies; but we haven’t posted many since static content has been so problematical. Not that that’s resolved, we’ll probably post more .FLVs in the future. Enjoy. And remember, even though download speeds have been “fixed”, we still don’t have the bandwidth of a video sharing site.

Since our slow page load issue seems to have been solved, we decided to post a video or too and see how it goes. So here is a move from our Tuesday photo session. We broke it up into three parts so it’s not super huge; however, it’s really just one longer clip. It’s a .FLV as are all of our movies since we this past January. And, as always, please remember that video takes a lot of bandwidth so please be patient if you decide to play one.

Today we’re posting another segment of the video we made on Wednesday. Everyone probably already knows what happened next; but, we like to post movies even if there is no suspense. (Are there ever really any surprises in X-rated videos?) FLV files use a lot of bandwidth even if they are heavily compressed so we’re not sure how publishing movies on consecutive days will be from a reader/viewer perspective. Hopefully things will not be too slow for everyone.

~~Update: There is a problem rendering the player in Internet Explorer 8.0 in Wordpress 3.1. I am troublshooting it now. Firefox and IE9 are fine.~~

Update: I made a quick fix which restores the video player; but breaks some other things . I plan on implementing a permanent fix this weekend.

It seems to be monsoon season around here so California Girl and I decided to make a movie which is something that we hadn’t done in a while. We would have posted this earlier but it took a long time to transfer, and then it had to be edited and transcoded. We really like having an Eye-Fi card for our camera since it makes downloading photos to our computer almost effortless; but, one of the things that we don’t like is how long it takes to download videos. Anyway, it’s up now, we hope that you like it.

P.S. Starting in December of last year, we decided to “get with the program” and start posting .FLV files. So the movie is bigger than the WMVs that we used to post; but it should play anywhere (except on an iPhone).

Two For Tuesday – 271

It’s become something of a tradition (except when we forget) to post a Flash movie of all the pictures we used for the previous year’s Two For Tuesdays in our first Two For Tuesday post of the new year. We originally posted a Digital Photo Frame with all of the photographs from the year’s TFT posts for our last post in December; but decided it worked better if we did it in January. It takes a long time to compile our “Year In Review” post which we also post the first week of the year, so it’s nice to have something which doesn’t require any editing to balance things. So here is a Flash movie of all of the pictures we used in 2010 in our Two For Tuesday posts. We’ve started transitioning to the FLV format instead of Windows Media; but plan to continue using the SWF format for slide shows.

Two For Tuesday – 269

We’re on Christmas vacation and busy holiday preparations, so we’re posting a video from this past summer that was never converted to a suitable size/format for the web. The video was taken outside in a nearby park during our Fourth of July vacation. With Tuesday being the first day of winter and today being one of the shortest days of the year it seems strangely appropriate to post something from one of the longest days of the year. And, it’s taken a while but we’ve finally gotten with the program and started creating videos in .FLV format.

Long time readers know that we have always preferred creating .WMVs since they are the smallest files; an important feature considering our limited bandwidth. Unfortunately, the Windows Media Encoder 9 tool that we had been using was out of date and I was unable to find preset configuration files or create new configuration settings that worked well with high definition video as an input source. That’s one of the big reasons that we haven’t posted a movie (as opposed to a slide show) in a long time. With the virtual retirement of our venerable 750Z, all of our new videos are HD.

FFmpeg, the program we used to convert from AVI to FLV is very flexible and infinitely configurable; but it is definitely not for the faint-hearted. It took 16 tries to create a video that wasn’t too big and was still an acceptable quality. (We’ve saved the settings so we’ll have them for the next time.) The movie is large (almost 5MB) so please be patient. We thought now was a good time to sneak in a high-definition video since a lot of people are on vacation for the holidays and we don’t expect as much traffic as usual. Hopefully, you’ll think it was worth the wait.

As he always does the third week of December, Osbasso requested that this week’s HNT feature a Christmas tree. We’ve already posted a photograph of us in front of our Christmas tree; so we’re posting a Flash movie of us keeping warm in front of the fireplace next to the Christmas tree. We’re using Flash since the SWF format has worked well for us in the past and almost everyone can play it (unless they’re using an iPhone/iPad).
