The First Day of Spring

Monday, March 21st, 2011 | General | By: Midwestern City Boy

Technically, spring began at 7:21 pm yesterday; but, today was the first full day of spring and it sure felt like it; especially after the miserable weather we had a few weeks ago. It was 73-degrees earlier this afternoon which makes today the warmest day of the year. We’ll slip back into the grasp of winter before the end of the week; but we rather be thinking about how we’ll be opening or pool in less than a month. It’s snowed after we’ve taken the winter cover off; but, just looking out the window at the water makes it seem more like winter is over and summer isn’t too far away.

Now that she’s in college, The Girl and her teammates spend more time practicing and less time playing than when she played spring (club) soccer in high school; but, even with their schedule heavily skewed toward practice, they will be playing their first spring games soon. We’ll be busy; but we’re looking forward to her games. If only for a few weekends, it will be just like old times.
