HNT – 283
When we had our photo session, we were in the midst of a ferocious winter storm that downed trees and power lines throughout the area and left everything covered in nearly an inch of ice. We were fortunate – Nothing fell on our home and we didn’t lose power. A lot of people have been without electricity since Tuesday night and will not have it back until this weekend and beyond. Since we had a mysterious power outage two weeks ago when the weather was “good” California Girl and I were very concerned. So here is a collage of us hunkering down in front of the fireplace during the storm. We didn’t know it at the time but, we would survive the storm without any problems.

For a great way to ride out the worst ice storm in many, many years, talk to your significant other. To find out what Half Nekkid Thursday is all about, visit Osbasso.
Update: California Girl was this week’s Mystery Guest at Views From the Back Row. Everyone who regularly visits us (and Os) probably noticed; but we thought that we would mention it any way. It was a lot of fun being a MG.

Very nice photos in front of the fireplace.
TemptingSweets99: Thanks. We keep our house warm so we don’t mind being uncovered anywhere. The fire in the fireplace really showed in these photos.
Now that’s a good way to spend a stormy day! Happy belated HNT!
Viemoira: Thanks. I’ve been so busy de-icing things that I haven’t wished anyone happy HNT. I play to visit everyone on Saturday.
OK, now THIS is what proper / appropriate lighting will do for you. CG straddling you in the Hotel armchair with DayLight streaming in the windos is STILL #1, but this shoot rises to a top-10 position. ( I think my earlier comment about how just a FEW $$$ spent on better lighting and composition would pay off in SPADES was misinterpreted as a SLAM when it was meant to be constructive criticism.) Sounds like TRULY old-school, but there are TONS of dead-tree photography books floating around out there that give SOLID advice on how to light Boudoir Shots with MODESTLY priced Hardwarestore components. WHITE $2 umbrellas for indirect lighting and bounce flash for example. I know it will seem a hardship (wink-wink), but just a few HOURS spent with CG while lighting, shooting, and then CHECKING your results in-between changes of LIGHTING on your laptop will while away the final few months of Ohio Winter.
Greg: Glad that you like. One of our resolutions is to take better photographs this winter when it’s too cold and wet to go outside. Currently, we are experimenting with using a slow sync flash which seems to give some extra detail and brightness to the background. We understand your advice about checking and rechecking the lighting. Of course, it would be a lot easier if we had a fluffer or two standing by.
