I Already Know It’s December
One of the things that I don’t like about having a smart phone is that the weather widget in the status bar is a constant reminder of how cold it is outside. I don’t mind that its 12 degrees with a wind chill of 5 degrees below zero outside. But I don’t like the red Severe Weather Alert warning that “people venturing outdoors should take appropriate precautions against the cold”. Minus 5 degrees is cold if you’re not dressed for the weather. But; it’s OK if you’re wearing a coat. The warning is kinda like saying it’s winter in Ohio, which is really hard to forget when there is snow on the ground.

Certainly is winter. What is weird is that a friend in Denver says it is 70 degrees there. Hard to believe as I sit here all bundled up with the little space heater on.
Rosie: We don’t get the snow like they do in Denver; but we get COLD early and often. I don’t like to think about it; but we’ve probably got three more months of weather like this.
I like it. You can check on your smart phone what the weather is outside. Alternatively, you can poke your head out of the window. It’s a bit low tech. But it works.
Alfie: The phone is good because it also gives me the forecast; which is VERY changeable around here. The temperature might drop 40-degrees or more in a day. That’s important if to know if we’re going to be out of the house for a while. And honestly, for the next few months, e weather will be cold and wet, snowy or some combination of the there. So it is good to know how much of each to expect. At least today it’s a “warm” 14-degrees right now.
