November In Ohio
The thermometer has been stuck on 46-degrees all day, and the Cincinnati Bengals are fumbling away yet another game. For me, Sundays are for relaxing (rather than doing something productive); but I really wish that that it was still summer. I’ve lived in Ohio all my life, so (obviously) I don’t mind gray November days; but it feels a lot colder since it was 70-degrees on Saturday. And, of course, it’s always depressing as a sports fan to watch your favorite team choke away anther game. It’s just a game and I don’t take it as seriously as a many sports fans; but I would at least like for them to be competitive for long enough for me to finish my beer.
Our favorite sport is women’s college soccer. As the NCAA commercial says, they’ll all be “going pro” in something other than sports, but it was great fun to watch the The Girl and her teammates. They had a disappointing loss or two; but, unlike the Stripes, not every game was a disaster. And, mistakes are easier to understand when the players are student-athletes taking 17 credit hours as opposed to grown men being paid to play a game. It didn’t seem like it when they were playing two games a week; but, The Girl’s freshman season went by very quickly. It’s hard to believe that she’s only got more years playing soccer. Hopefully, by then we’ll have a NFL team in Ohio that contends.
