Monday Blues
The rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. Unfortunately, the demise of the video card in the kid’s computer is not. The cooling fan on the graphics card died which in turn caused the graphics CPU to overheat and burn out. It wasn’t very expensive when we purchased it two years ago; but our computer is new enough to be very POed without a video card installed. I’ve got a lot of old parts in a box in the basement; but nothing like that. And, of course; before I purchased a new one, I had to be absolutely certain that the graphics card was the problem. So I had to take the card out of our computer and put it theirs. Internal computer components are not the sort of things that are easily shared. We’ve got a laptop; but almost all of the things The Girl needs for school, etc are on the desktop. So, this week definitely didn’t start out the best. A replacement is on the way from NewEgg. Hopefully it will get here before the weekend.
