In Three’s
There is a saying that “Bad things come in three’s.” We’ve never accepted such things as true; but, believe it or not, we had a third unexpected major expense last week. We were hoping for a change of luck after the events discussed in our Raining In February and The Rain Continues posts. Unfortunately, we needed spend money from our emergency fund once again. We can’t afford another emergency anytime soon. We’ll need a lot of sunny days to replenish our rainy day fund which doesn’t look likely in the current economy.
Thankfully, we’ve already paid for most of The Girl’s senior year expenses. She’s done her senor portraits. We purchased her graduation announcements. And she’s got her prom dress. The only thing we “need” to buy for her is a graduation present. The Boy didn’t buy that many things over the summer in preparation for college. She’ll probably want/need more than he did but that can be managed.
The sun finally started co come out on Thursday and the five day forecast calls for much warmer temperatures. Hopefully that is a sign of better days.

It amazes me how parrallel bloggers lives can run even when they are different people in different places with different lifestyles. I swear I have been doing nothing buyt stressing about the Three rule- we have had two doubles (furnace died twice then had 2 flat tires at once) so I feel almost as though I am bringing on the negative karma awaiting the third thing. I have mentioned thise repeatedly to Master and then read this and had to ponder the fact that it seems we have such similar luck at similar times. So I will hope things turn around for you soon once again- not only for you but in hopes our luck too shall turn
Viemoira: It’s been several days since we posted about this and nothing more has broken. And, and, and it was almost 60-degrees today. So, perhaps, our luck has changed. Hopefully yours has too. When I was young, my mom always talked about the “long hard winter”. At the time, I didn’t understand what she meant; but, nowadays, I understand it more and more each year. Unlike the summer when you can put more things off, most breakdowns that happen in the winter like your furnace, for example, have to get fixed immediately. And flat tires are always much more of a nuisances when it’s cold and/or snowy. So, we’ve decided to believe that “winter” is over and months of good luck lie ahead.
I thought the “in-threes” only applied to people croaking off.
Shows what I know.
KittyKillKill: Death is definitely bad luck (which is certainly an understatement); but, around here at least, it’s not the only thing that the rule of threes applies to. But the sun came out today and we got outside for awhile, so, hopefully, things are returning to normal and what specifically “in threes” applies to won’t be a concern.
