Five Turns Around the Sun
Today is the five year anniversary of Married In Ohio! 1,473 posts and 8,198 comments ago we made our debut on BlogSpot with Who Am I And Why Am I Here. Five years is a long time in to be doing do something in real life. Five years is forever in blogging. Facebook was just a year old and Twitter hadn’t been invented yet. Our tagline is “The life and times of a happily married couple in Ohio.” We’re still happily married. Sadly, several couples that we’ve met over the years are no longer together. It’s hard to stay married and even harder to stay happily married. We’re very happy that we’ve kept the flame alive. We hope that the connection we have with one another shows in our blog.
We will go over 2,500,000 visitors sometime this month. We’ve had a lot of regular visitors over the years. Many have come a gone but a few are still around. Whether you are a new visitor or have been following us for a while, you have our thanks. This blog would not work without you. We really appreciate your comments, shouts and emails. The most memorable things from the time that we have been blogging are the interactions that we have had with you. We hope that everyone enjoys reading our blog as much we enjoy writing it. Much like life, blogging is a journey and not a destination; one that we’re glad to have shared with you.

Happy 5th anniversary dude, to both you and your good wife. Here’s wishing you many more great years ahead in the married real world as well as here in blog land. Keep “up” the good work! (evil grin)
Rob: Thank you. We’re looking forward to the years that lie ahead both in blogging and in real life.
I’ve got only one follow up message – for the life of me, I have no clue as to how I ever got tagged with that weird frowny icon that always appears beside my comments in your blog. It gives the impression that I’m a ticked off old Canuk, which is only half right (at least about the “canuk” part). Any ideas on how to improve “my angelic image”?
Rob: The icon is created base upon a one-way hash of your email address. If you want to you can go register at http://www.gravitar.com and upload any icon to your liking. Otherwise, there isn’t much to be done since icons are automatically generated for commenters that haven’t created their own.
Congrats on you blogiversary, and for keeping it fresh and interesting for so long. Many blogs I started reading at the same time as yours are long gone. Congrats also on your long and happy marriage. I know of 3 couples who’ve tanked in the last year, one after 26 years, so I know how rare it is to stay happy for that long. Thanks for the fun!
Mountain Girl: Thanks. It’s kinda sad how many couples don’t make it. It’s hard to stay married. It’s a lot easier to give it up even thought, at the end of the day, it isn’t so rewarding. And, the same thing goes for blogging to a lesser degree. Blogs are born, live and die very quickly, sometimes in less than a year; but all they need is some work and dedication to keep going.
Congratulations to the both of you and to the blog. Here’s to many more successful years of Married in Ohio!
KittyKillKill: Thank you. We hope to be blogging for many more years to come; and plan on staying married even longer than that.
Happy Valentines Day to both of you.
Jerry B: Thank you. We had a great weekend.
Happy 5 year blogoversary!
Viemoira: Thank you. Blogging really has evolved since we first started. For example, it’s much easier to add pictures, audio, video, etc. now. And the online editors are much better.
