How Did You Do?
I was the big winner in our office’s SuperBowl pool! Unlike some in the past, the game was very entertaining even for people who didn’t have money riding on it. Of course, it’s even better to watch a good game and win some cash. How did you do in your office pool?
One thing I noticed is how few commercials there were relative to years past. And none of ones that were sold were particularly interesting. I will say that I have several coworkers (both male and female) that I never, ever want to see in the underwear. And a few are that I wouldn’t mind if that’s all they wore. I’m not sure if it’s due of where I work or if it’s a trend in business in general; but there seem to be a lot more people who are very, very overweight than there used to be. I’m not fond of tee treadmill but it’s definitely better than the alternative. BTW: What did you think the best commercial was?

Being a life-long Bears fan, my favorite commercial was the Boost Mobile Shuffle featuring my boys from the original Shufflin’ Crew. What a hoot! I even logged on to boostmobile.com/shuffle to watch the entire video. It was hilarious.
25 years later and they still don’t have any rhythm.
The Snickers commercial with Betty White and Abe Vigoda was pretty funny, too.
Mountain Girl: I remember the original Super Bowl shuffle very well; but I wonder how many of todays younger generation will get it. It’s sad that “Sweetness” isn’t still with us. There may be other great football teams; but I doubt any will match the personality of the 85 Bears.
I’m not a fan of Google (see my “I Hate Blogger!” post from last Wednesday); but I thought that their ad was entertaining.
I actually called Saints winning with a 15 point lead but I was one point off. I haven’t watched football for quite sometime so I was very happy to catch the super bowl. No favorite commercial though.
Viemoira: It was pure luck but I “predicted” the finally score. I cheered as much as I do for the Bengals when the interception was returned for a touchdown.
Best ad was the dog putting the shock collar on the guy. Google was ok. most others were so moric. Terrible year for originality, so many re-dos and remakes. some were pathetic.
Carolina Jim: I forgot about that one. It was funny. And you’re right. This was not the best year for original ideas. I think some advertisers “wasted” $2.5 million.
Congratulations on winning the prize! Sweety spent $140 to win $100…didn’t go so well for him.
I didn’t even really pay attention to the ads. I watched the Dodge Charger one and it made me mad. It was all about how the men needed a Charger and I was thinking, “hey! I want one!”
Chickie: I spent “only” $40. Originally I was only in for half of that but I put in an extra $20 on the Friday before the game. It’s all good now since I won.
They did have a lot of ads targeted toward on sex or the other this year. I didn’t like many of them either.
I didn’t get to see all of the commercials unfortunately because T and I were out of town. We did get to see a few. The Megan Fox one was kind of funny (even though I hate her).
Congrats on winning the office pool!
KittyKillKill: You didn’t miss much. This was the weakest batch of Super Bowl commercials in many years. There were several that I can’t believe that anyone truly thought were good. The game was entertaining; but except for beer commercials; I don’t think this year’s commercials had any impact.
