Chickie: Dishwashers are incredibly simple, a water supply, a waste drain and one electrical connection; but, for some reason, fixing them always takes longer than it should. A couple of years ago, the soap dispenser on ours broke and I had to completely disassemble the door to replace it. You wouldn’t think it would take so long to replace a $20 part.

It’s great that Sweety is so handy, plumbers are expensive; and usually not available at that time of night. You should get him something nice (or at least give him a quick weenie suck) as a reward for saving the expense of a service call.

KittyKillKill: We didn’t have good luck when we rented. Most of the apartments that we lived in let things go for a long time before they repaired them unless we were moving out and they needed to show the place to perspective tenets.

Ugh, I hear you. At about 11 on Monday night we realized the dishwasher was leaking water. It took 2 hours of tinkering but Sweety fixed it and it wasn’t a “hard” fix.

Viemoira: We had our weekly photo session today which is always very relaxing. I know home maintenance goes with home ownership, but, for me, things always break when I least feel starting a home repair project.

Alfie: Our home is only 7 years old so I didn’t expect for things to start breaking so soon. I’ve actually replaced this part before and I’m sure that I will again since the readily available replacements (at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) are of such poor quality. The hardware only cost $3.19. It rather pay $10 for a more substantial replacement part and not net to touch it for many, many years; but, sadly that is not an option.

I know the feeling. We have just had a week of it – removing a hundred or so wall-tiles and trying to keep some of them intact so that the kitchen-fitters can reuse them when they inevitably break a few doing the electrics.
