Dinner And A Movie
After planning to do so for weeks, we finally saw Avatar on Saturday. Since everyone may not have seen it, I’m not going to say anything other than it was a great movie. We only go to the theater to see spectacle-type movies that would lose some of their impact in the living room on our wide screen TV or in our home theater. Otherwise, we wait for the DVD. The Girl is out of town for the weekend, so it kinda reminded us of the days before kids. Life was a lot less complicated then. Nowadays, we’re careful to avoid situations where we will be hard to reach when the kids are out of the house. It hasn’t happened very often; but there have been a couple of times when The Girl needed “rescuing”. I wonder how long it will take after The Girl goes away to school before we stop thinking about the “what-ifs” and make plans like we did in the days before kids.

We’re going to see that in the theater too. Even people that I’ve talked to that didn’t like the story said it was worth watching just to see it.
Making plans like you did before kids? I bet it’ll take awhile to get used to.
Chickie: It’s probably going to be bigger than “Titanic”. Definitely worth watching in the theater. We saw it in 3D which was fabulous.
We used to have a standing date on Friday night. That’s something that I’d like to get back to. It probably will take us a while since we’ve doing kid stuff on Friday nights for so long.
I heard that was a good movie but called bullshit about the movie wanting to make people commit suicide after watching it.
A link on that story is here.

KittyKillKill: I don’t buy it either. I felt BETTER after watching the movie. It’s a great escape from real life (e.g. images of the devastation in Haiti). My brother “always said, life’s a bitch and then you die”; but I’ve always prescribed to the “Go and hide in a hole if you wish, but you won’t live one instant longer” philosophy. There are some profoundly evil people in the world; and, even if they weren’t here, a lot of bad things still happen; but it’s the only world and the only life we’ve got. So, is best to seek joy and not despair.
