Tournament Time
Like all of the other girls high school soccer teams in Ohio, The Girl’s team played today. It tournament time so for the season ended for half of them. And so it will be for every game day until a champion is crowned. Fortunately, her team won easily; but, every game could be the last one of The Girl’s high school career. She’ll play in the spring; but it’s not the same. High school games in a stadium under the lights in front of all of your friends are special. The level of play may not be as good as a club team but the atmosphere is the stuff that memories are made of. I’ll never forget the crowd reaction earlier this year when the player that was defending her got faked out so badly that she fell down as The Girl ran by. This season has been a memorable one. Unfortunately, like so many things that happen to kids as they grow up, it’s gone by very quickly.
