Probably Not The Last
You may have noticed that I removed “Greg & Sheryl’s Interracial Swinging Blog” from our sidebar. I’ve been getting a Blogger login page with the dreaded “This blog is in violation of Blogger’s Terms of Service and is open to authors only…” message whenever I tried to visit their site. It’s been almost a month and they still aren’t back online. Presumably, they’ve been unable to convince Google’s robots that they aren’t a spam blog. All of Google’s services are free. Unfortunately, since they don’t have any paying customers, they don’t have any real people in customer support. Users just have to send message to support and hope. And wait and wait and wait. Hopefully they will return on another blogging platform. If not, they’ll join the long list of blogs we followed that have gone offline. Sadly, they probably won’t be the last. Wherever they are, we wish them well.

We’re friends with Greg & Sheryl on Flickr. They’re hopefully moving the blog over to Wordpress sometime soon.
Mr. Manic Depressive: That’s good to hear. Hopefully they’ll be able to transfer their content. Unfortunately, I don’t think that the WordPress import functionality works if the source blog is unavailable. Please tell them that I said hello.
That’s too bad… Hopefully they will move to a new platform. I’m biding my time with blogger because I’m far too stretched to look into moving to another platform unless it becomes necessary but the irritations are beginning to outweigh the benefit of it being free.
Viemoira: Blogger is free; but sometimes, you get what you pay for. Wordpress.com is free to; but their robots aren’t as obnoxious. It’s best if you can host your own blog; but that’s a lot more work than the free platforms. However, you don’t get “upgrades” forced upon you. You just need to know a good system administrator to help out. The one around here is smart but doesn’t always get to things. (If you didn’t know I’m the administrator.)
