Another School Year
We got home late last night/early this morning back from taking The Boy back to college. He was excited to begin his sophomore year and we plan to visit him before too long; so it really didn’t sink in that he was gone for another school year until we got home to a much emptier house. His bedroom and the kid’s study both seemed deserted. Now that he’s done it once before, he did a very good job of packing and deciding what to bring and what to leave at home. And since gave some old clothes to Goodwill and threw away a bunch of school stuff from high school and his freshman year things looked even emptier. We both rally enjoyed having him home for this past summer. As popular as summer coops and internships are becoming, this may have been his last summer at home. It was good but it definitely wasn’t long enough. And, with The Girl starting her senior year, it may have been “just like old times” for the last time.

Whoa that will be a big change in your lives.
Kate: We’re not at all looking forward to the empty nest. We really enjoy the kids so it will be very strange not having them around. The Girl may play soccer in college so it wouldn’t be that much different from things right now if she goes someplace within driving distance. Games days are great fun; but they are very fleeting.
