She Passed

The Girl passed her driver examination so now there’s one more teenage driver on the road in Ohio. She got points taken off for both the maneuverability test (stopping to check progress) and the road test (turning to wide); but not enough to fail. I was a bit nervous; but we let her drive home by herself even though we were in a different county. She’s happy to have her license; but even she admitted that its different driving places by herself without a parent (or instructor) in the passenger’s seat.

We’re sure that she’s planning to drive anywhere and everywhere that she needs to go; but we’re going to insist that she take things very slowly; especially the in the beginning. She is a good driver; but, like most kids her age, she’s overly confident in her abilities. I was the same way and that’s what worries me. It certainly does make things easier for us. She does her own errands like going to the store to get her own school supplies or driving back and forth to soccer practice. Its’ nerve wracking; but we’re hoping to adapt quickly. We’ve got a while before the first snow and all the worries that will bring.
