Growing Up
The Girl hosted “lunch” for the girls on her soccer team today. During two-a-days the seniors that live near the practice field invite the team over and today was our day. They were well organized and behaved. They got their own food, cleaned up after themselves and even provided transportation for the girls who were too young to drive. I came home from work early just in case; but the only thing I needed to do was connect The Girl’s iPod Touch to the outdoor speaker system. They spent most of the time outside on the deck and in the pool (which they really enjoyed after being out in the sun so much a practice). Other than their music, I wouldn’t have known they were there. Sometimes, I’m amazed at the maturity of The Girl and her friends. I may not have as much to worry about after all.
P.S. Its days like this that make us really glad we built our swimming pool.

That’s what I call a happy post! By the way, you’re downloading super-fast at the moment.
Alfie: With ##tg, you never know what you’re going to get. It’s usually very good or very bad and seldom in the middle. And lately, we have seen a lot of good things; a trend which we hope continues. I’ve got my fingers crossed; but I’m hoping I’ve solved or speed problems permanently.
I agree that it is reassuring to see young adults manage “adult” situations on their own-especially as the parent!
Did you dig and build your pool yourself? Curious because Beast mentioned the possibility of doing so for pool on our wish list.
Viemoira: It was very gratifying. Even more so since it was unexpected. Typically, when she has that many people over, I wind doing a lot more so things go smoothly.
Yes, we built our pool ourselves. Or more specifically had it built our custom specifications. It concrete rather than having a vinyl liner, so, except for painting the sides/bottom it shouldn’t need much done to it for many years. (After a while vinyl lines tear/leak and have to be replaced.) Of curse that did make it a bit more expensive; but it’s a LOT of fun. And its great for games since the “deep” end is only 4½ feet. Email us if you ever want to know anything about building a pool.
