Another Bonding Experience
It’s taken eight hours spread over two days; but I finally got the original version of Myst running on The Boy’s laptop. We stayed up very late Wednesday night Thursday morning then got right back at it when I got home for work this afternoon. As an adult, he loves playing computer games from his childhood. It was not an easy task to get a game designed and programmed 17 years ago to run under Windows Vista! Most resources for DOS and Windows 3.1 have long since been taken down from the internet. Miraculously, we were able to find everything we need including a video driver that is almost as old as he is. I just hope he wins the game after all of the obstacles (and all of the sleep I missed last night).
P.S. Scroll down for today’s HNT post.

The things we do for our kids! All that lovey-time and energy squandered. Hope he appreciated it!
Alfie: He did. That why I didn’t mind. He’s always very appreciative whenever I help, especially if it takes a lot of time.
It’s good he’s appreciative of what you’re doing for him. I sure could go for some Super Mario Brothers right about now.
Rage: He always is. He’s got high expectations for my technical knowledge so at times he unknowingly requests things that are titanically hard. I’m usually able to accomplish what he wants; but sometimes it takes a LOT of work. This was one of those times.
