Gremlins Everywhere
Today was not the best day for consumer electronics here in Married In Ohio land.
First, our camera battery ran down right at the start of our photo session. Then I discovered that the spare battery we keep for such occasions only had enough power for a handful of shots after which it died as well. We don’t have a card reader so I won’t be downloading and posting the few photos we took for our Two For Tuesday photos until sometime tomorrow after recharging the batteries. (The first one is own the charger now.) The battery we most often use is new; but must not have been fully charged. Our preferred camera for NSFW photos is an older model that draws a lot if power which is why we have a spare. Unfortunately, the spare is almost as old as the camera and doesn’t hold a charge as well as it once did.
Then, The Girl was unable to open our electronic fire safe. The display showed the mechanism as being unlocked; but the handle would not turn. I replaced the batteries and it still did the same thing. She wanted to put something in rather than take something out so it wasn’t an emergency; however, it is still disconcerting to lose access to all of your important papers. [No, we don't keep money in it. It's for hard to replace documents like passports and small items of sentimental value that we wouldn't want to lose in a fire such as old family photographs.] At least our computers are working so I’m able to research the problem with the safe on the internet.
Update: After following the troubleshooting steps on the manufacturer’s web site I was finally able to open the safe. Then with the door ajar, I locked and unlocked it several dozen times and it worked perfectly. Strange.

We have an electronic safe that acts up like that periodically as well except i keep my sex toys in it so it gets locked and unlocked quite frequently. i get very anxiety ridden when i cannot access it easily lol! Glad things worked out with your safe and hope the recharge is simple and painless for your camera batteries!
Oh and at work i have little IT
Knomes similar to your germlines I’m certain.
Viemoira: We really should have a safe that can be opened with a key as well as an electronic lock. If we ever do have a fire, the contents would be safe; but the electronic lock would almost certainly be destroyed by the heat from the fire; so all of our stuff would be stuck inside until we could drill out the lock.
We’ve got a new camera that doesn’t drain batteries nearly as fast; but it doesn’t have a remote control so it’s not as useful for our photo sessions. We really need an AC adapter for it.
