Open For the Summer
It’s full of earthworms and the water is only 59°F; but the pool is open! It will be a while before we can get in; but it definitely makes it seem like summer is right around the corner. The Girl squealed with glee when she got home and realized that the winter cover had finally been removed and she could see the water. I’m sure that the chemistry is needs adjusting and we’d have to run the heater for days before the temperate was comfortable; but, after being covered for so long, being able to actually see the pool makes it seem more like summer. It will probably snow next week as it has on several occasions in years past just after we opened pool; but the endless winter is finally over.

greetings
‘… and the water is only 59deg F.’ I had to smile. When I was a kid learning to swim in Lake Ontario we were vreally happy when the wind was on shore becausethis meant that the water temp would go to 55 or 60 and it would feel so warm. Lake huron on the other hand was really warm but my sister and I only got there a couple of times a year for family picnics. It’s no wonder I guess that I never learned to really enjoy swimming – playing in the water, yes, but not swimming any distance.

Yondan: 59° is MUCH too cold to us. We like water temperature in the 80s. I learned to swim in indoor pools and never got used to cold water. Swimming is a lot more fun when the water is warm.
