Bye Bye January
I must admit I am glad to see January go. It was -14°F a couple of weeks ago, and now there’s over a foot of snow on the ground. We had two ice storms in the midst of all the snow so we had a layer of ice on top, then snow, then another layer of ice, then some more snow, then ice on the bottom. It was heavy and took a long time to chip off the driveway. This is Ohio; so I expect it to be cold and snowy; but cold, snowy, and icy just sucks. Spring can’t get here soon emough for me.

i could not agree more! i despise the winter!
Shit. It’s time to dig out the electric blanket and the thermal underwear again.
I wish it would rain here. Usually I’m soaking wet by the time I walk to the car. We’re heading for another drought.
Viemoira: I know it’s warmer here than where you are; but, even ifs it’s not so cold and miserable it’s still yucky. I’d LOVE a trip to Australia/New Zeeland or someplace else in the southern hemisphere this time of year.
Kate: California Girl is like an electric blanket. She always warms up whenever she gets in bed. But, hat doesn’t help much when I’m out and about. I hope you guys don’t have a drought. The economy is already bad enough; California doesn’t need any more problems.
Having spend my childhood in Boston, I (Greg) remember what it’s like to suffer through a brutal winter. By comparison, Denver’s winters are very mild with average high temperatures in the 40′s, and I’m very thankful for that.
Thanks. I hope not either. They usually fine you if you use too much water when there’s a drought.
Greg: Back in the days when I was a road warrior, I used to travel to Boston very frequently; so I am very familiar with New England winters. (Tons of snow and wet raw days.) It doesn’t snow nearly as much her; but it does seem to be colder. (I wonder if the ocean warms things up?) We may see a 40 degree day but average January temperatures are in the 20s. We won’t see temperatures consistently in the 40s until March.
Kate: They do the same around her which makes it hard to keep your grass alive. The last time it was dry, several lawns in the neighborhood died and people had to restart from scratch.
