Did It Help?
You may have noticed that the number of posts on the main page has been decreased from 10 to 5. (Actually, I just increased it to 6). Hopefully this will decrease the page load times for everyone. I know that it reduced our bandwidth utilization 40% between Sunday and Monday. The actual decrease was probably even more significant since Sunday is a lighter usage day for us comparatively speaking. Things seemed faster for me when I was testing; but I’d really like to know what you all think. How does the speed compare with last week? Is it “good enough” or do we need to do more?
BTW: I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions. California Girl thought that the best idea would be to reduce the number of posts. That way we wouldn’t have to go back and change anything. And everything would be the way we want them if/when we change hosts. Plus I somewhat look at it as a call to action. We really should have more sexy stories (which we haven’t done in some time), news of the world, quizzes/memes and posts in general. Then there would not be so many photo posts in the last 10 posts which would also solve the problem.

This seemed to load a good deal faster than last week – so from my point of view it did help.
Very much faster for me too! You seem to have hit on the right solution.
I’ve also noticed a speed increase!
Load times were much faster. Thanks. Jim
Everyone. Glad to hear that it seems to have helped. It was a quick fix that is fully reversible whenever we want.
yup, a big improvement, nice going!
Dave Dunlop: Thanks for the feedback. We probably won’t do anything else for awhile.
