Photos Postponed
Our photo session for Two For Tuesday and Half Nekkid Thursday was postponed due to inclement weather. Earlier today, I took a hard fall in the parking lot while out Christmas shopping. I’m POed, sore and embarrassed. I’m pissed off because, given the ice storm we’ve been having, Best Buy should have treated their parking lot. The whole thing was a sheet of ice. I saw several cars loose control and run into things when I was walking in and out of the store. I’m sore because my foot slopped when I was getting out of our SUV so it was a long way down to the pavement. After I hit, I laid on the ground for a few moments just making sure all the parts were still in the right place. And I’m embarrassed because I fell down like an old lady. I run six to ten miles per day, box two times a week, and sometimes lift weights and yet I still had the no balance.
I should have been more careful since I knew it was treacherous. In fact, I parked far away from the store just to ensure the cars that were running into things didn’t run into our vehicle. But for some inexplicable reason, I wasn’t very careful getting out of the car. If I wasn’t trying to finish up my Christmas shopping, I would have gone someplace else. I hate spending money in places that don’t make an effort to earn my business. Especially since I had just come from the mall which did clear their lots and was much safer for shoppers both pedestrians and motorists. Thankfully, except for a few bruises, I’m OK. The only thing that was hurt was my pride. And unlike a lot of other vehicular traffic that was out this evening, I didn’t get run into or slide off the road.

I call ice the great equalizer. Every winter I get the pleasure of watching the fools in their four wheel drive vehicles think they’re invincible. Every year they wind up in the ditch. Don’t be too upset, no matter how much you run, how much you train, unless you’re wearing golf spikes or ice climbing boots, you are goin’ down. Of course, this would be a good time for you to have CG give you a nice rubdown. Yeah, rubdown, sweet!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Ouch!
Sometimes it’s not even worth getting out of bed.
Well, you won the football pool from 2 weeks ago. I didn’t do it last week because I was too busy. You’ve won 4 times. The new one is up. Come by.
Oh, we didn’t get any snow here. All we got is nasty ass rain.
Mr. Manic Depressive: I’ve never under stood why people with 4-wheel drive vehicles think that the laws of physics don’t apply to them and that they somehow will have better traction on ice. It’s times like this that I wished I owned an automobile body shop. And Merry Christmas to you too.
Kate: The fall was not worth it but the trip to Best Buy was. I got some great gifts for everyone. I’ve made my picks. I can’t believe that I won again, especially since I’ve still mostly been picking the Bengals. They always seem to win games late in the season when it doesn’t matter. But they never keep the momentum for the following year. And, believe it or not, after all the ice and bad weather earlier in the week, its 61°F here!
I grew up in Ontario where we had the same ice storms as you mention. even though I practiced judo for about 15 hrs a week the ice is no respecxter of balance abilities. One of the nice things about my present location (about 150 miles north of Bismark ND) is – !! no ice storms !!. There have been two in the last 40 years.
Love your blog.

Yodan: I know it affects everyone equally; but it certainly made me feel helpless and out of control. And that is not something that usually happens. We have way to many ice storms around here. It usually melts quickly; but it’s definitely not a fun time of you get caught out in one.
