Enhanced For Widescreen Displays
For the second time this year, I changed the theme. In addition to different color and fonts, the post area is wider and the sidebar is now on the left-hand side. I cropped and resized the header photograph; but it’s still basically the same image. I wanted to make things a bit wider to make better use of the space on the widescreen monitors that are so common these days. I tested it in Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3.0 and Google Chrome. Please let me know if everything looks OK. Obviously I’m not a professionally graphic artist; but I do try hard to make sure that everything is working. Even if you don’t have any problems, let me know what you think of the new layout and if I should move the sidebar to the right.
Update: I fixed the JavaScript of the anti-spam plugin to position the security word above the label to the comment box. So far, that has been the only problem.

Your excitement and love comes through so strongly. Happy Holiday.
Works fine with me. Wish I had your talent.
Your site, your preferences. LOL
Honestly I like it better this way. It’s easier on the eyes.
Come by and play my football pool. I think you’ve won twice and if you win a 3rd time, you get a surprise. Someone did.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I baked a turkey and it turned out good.
Looks fine to me! Change is great from time to time.
I LOVE the new layout. Keep up the great work!
Looks cleaner and it is easy to read. I am not into the wide screen format on the computer yet. This flat panel works fine for now and I do not watch movies on it. It seems as though 90% of the blogs and pages use the left side for buttons and links because by default the left side of a page is always displayed. My 43″ Toshiba is awesome for football and the like. Belated Happy Thnksgiving. Enjoy the time with the kids. Just got the Mrs. out of the hospital again. J&W
Rosie: Thank you. I hope that you are having a great four-day (or longer) weekend as well.
Alfie: I don’t have talent. Just patience. It takes me MUCH longer to do things like this than a skilled designer. I’m OK with basic CSS styling; but, there are a lot of elements that I don’t know off the top of my head and have to look up. I think the secret is knowing where to look. And not getting frustrated if things done turn out the way that you want on the first (or second, or third) try.
Nolens Volens: My main display is 1680×1050 so this is a good compromise between that and people that still have standard (4:3) displays.
Kate: I’m always especially interested in how things look on your Apple. When we first started blogging, I inadvertently did some Internet Explorer specific things that caused a lot of problems for people not in the MSE world. And the readers that were having problems couldn’t even leave comments.
I’ll be by to play later tonight or early tomorrow. Always taking Cincinnati is a big disadvantage; but It’s all for fun and that’s what being a fan is for. I’ve staill got a month to get my thif victory so I am very hopeful.
Thanksgiving was great. We all went to my moms and ate WAY too much.
Gary White: Glad that you like it and that it works well for you.
Rage: There are fewer fonts and fewer colors than before so it does look “cleaner”. I was just hoping that people didn’t think that it was too bland.
Carolina Jim and Wife: Hopefully everything still shows up on your flat panel Compatibility with standard displays is one of the reasons that I didn’t go wider. I’m assuming that most people with standard displays run them at 1024×788 or higher so the content area would still be visible. Plus, no elements have a fixed position so the template should adapt well do displays of different sizes. I hope that the missus is dong well.
I like the new look!
Chickie: It seems to have been very well received. I should probably update things more often. It really didn’t even take that long to create. I took longer to decide WHAT to do. I think my biggest problem is not lack of technical skill but lack of imagination.
