Suitable For Swimming, Really
California Girl and I got in the pool on Sunday, and, unlike the last time I wore it in the pool, my “new” wristwatch survived. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, back in July, I got in the pool with my supposedly water resistant to 100 meter watch and woke up the next day with water inside the crystal. A lot of water. After many weeks and multiple attempts to repair it, I finally got a brand new watch. I was a bit concerned about getting it wet; but, I needed to make sure the replacement was watertight. And, even though I have bad luck, the odds of receiving two defective watches in a row are very small. So, after watching the Bengals blow it in overtime, California Girl and I got in the pool; possibly for the last time this summer.
Except for a watch, I don’t wear “man jewelry”. So it was frustrating to use my old Seiko after putting it away for what I thought was for good. Plus, even though it’s sappy, California Girl and I have had matching watches since we first got married. This is our third set. We’ve got a really nice set of timepieces picked out for when we’re finally able to live large. Until then, we’ll make do with our “Middle Range” set which still cost more money than we have ever spent on his and hers watches.

I’ve noticed that you never, ever take off you watch. Did you wear the dead one until its replacement arrived?
Does California Girl always wear hers? Like around the house?
For a moment or two, I thought it was a bit goofy when I saw the two of you “gettin’ busy” with your matching watches on, but I’ve come around and think it’s just the greatest to see the two of you sharing the “little” things as well as the BIG ones! You don’t see that with many couples these days, who seem to almost value their own personal space/stuff/”me time” as much or more than they value their time together. Before I met Mr. Ohio, I had a long period of time on my own, and as much as I value my own time, and respect his, it’s our time TOGETHER, and the BIG and little things we share that REALLY matter! Thanks for the reminder!!
Enjoy…
Valerie
Well, I guess that 100 meters water resistant was bullshit. Glad this one works.
Sorry about your Bengals. I have the new NFL week 4 up. You’re welcome to try your picks again.
Alfie: No, the dead one was at the jewelry store. I went back to the Seiko that I never planned to war again.
Chickie: Yes. Except unlike me she takes it off before getting in the shower. The only time I take mine off is when I’m working out and have on my sports watch instead.
Valerie: It’s a long standing tradition of ours. It’s corny but it’s us. And we don’t worry too much about our own space, individuality, etc. We do what works for us. It might not be for everyone; but it’s normal for us. I can’t tell you how much “advice” we have received over the years from people. Thankfully, now that our relationship has withstood the test of time we don’t get quite as much.
That is a good omen for the future. A relationship is really about SHARING. Glad to hear that you and Mr. Ohio are on the same page about such things.
Kate: If anyone gets anything defective, it’s always me. Even though it’s the exact same model, the new one works is definitely more water resistant. P.S. The Bengals are going to win this week.
