Married In Ohio

Observant readers will have noticed that one of these sentences in About Us section of the side bar recently changed to “We have two kids, a son, 18, and a daughter, 15.” Although he is still a kid to us, The Boy is technically an adult. Things don’t seem much different now than they did before his birthday; but it seems strange to call someone who is 18 years old a “kid”. About the only change now is that he’s old enough to sign forms for himself. California Girl and I are amazed at how quickly the time has passed. He’ll still be at home for another couple of months then it’s off to college at which point we’re sure things will be totally different. We’re not looking forward to that day.

Today is our last HNT before our traditional high summer vacation. We can’t wait; it’s been a busy six months. We’ll probably do a video or something next week so we decided to something a bit different than usual. We positioned the camera at the head of the bed just above the pillows. Unlike some of our previous experiments, we really liked how the photographs turned out. The first photo is our favorite; but we are also posting the customary BJ shot. Our server was “unhappy” on Tuesday Night (Wednesday morning) so we’re only posting one picture. Usually it’s got a good attitude so far as computers go; but every once in a while, it doesn’t like an update and makes me spend time that I would rather be doing something else figuring out why. In this case, the something was editing our pictures from our photo session. Since I only prepared one photograph for today the theme is “what I would rather be doing”. It’s easy to figure out why.

I spent some time this past weekend organizing photographs of the kids. I hadn’t realized since it happened so gradually but the girl had grown a lot. She was much bigger than when she was a year ago. I take a bunch of pictures; but I haven’t been indexing and categorizing them as much as I should recently since it makes me feel a bit sad. Nothing drives home the point that The Boy had finished high school and won’t be home this fall like looking at photos from his graduation. Or from his final cross country or wrestling meets. A lot of people look forward to an empty nest; but that is something that California Girl and I have never done. We really like having the kids around. With The Boy so far away, I think we’ll be driving a lot more than usual this fall.

California Girl’s watch died over the weekend. I’m almost certain that it’s the battery which is a nuisance since it has to be special ordered directly from Seiko. I’d like to get her a nice new watch; but, since we have his and hers watches, I’ll probably just get another battery. It was supposed to last 5 years; but, both this one and the original one lasted for less than half of that. If we had known beforehand that a replacement battery would be so hard to find, we would have never purchased the set. Unlike hers, my watch is still running on the original battery.

We like to have matching stuff. It’s kind of a trademark of ours. We don’t overdo it; but we do like jewelry and other accessories that remind us of each other. For example, we always have coordinating costumes at Halloween. If anyone has suggestions for a nice coordinated set of his and hers watches we’d love to hear them. We don’t want to spend too much money; but we’d really like a matched pair. After the “fun” we have had with batteries, we’re thinking that we would like to have automatic (self-winding) movements. And, or course enough water resistance so that we can swim in them. (It gives us a funny tan, so we don’t usually wear them in the pool; but, sometimes we do need to know the time). The only thing I can say is our next set of watches will not be Seikos.

Other than the battery being such an annoyance, we really like the watches. They keep very accurate time and are perpetual calendar models so we only have to adjust them when changing to or from daylight savings time. Even though they only display the date, they “know” what month and year it is and adjust the date accordingly. It’s a good idea; but poor execution. I guess the same could be said about many things.

We’ve got clocks all over the house; and we’ve always got our cell phones with us; so we don’t really need a watch to know the time; but it’s a touch of elegance that we like share. I’ve always thought that timepieces were symbolic of relationships. Hopefully we’ll be able to find something that is a suitable remembrance of ours.

I came home “early” from work on Tuesday which means I actually left at the “normal” time. It seemed weird driving in evening rush hour traffic after so many day of not leaving until much later. California Girl still had some work to finish up so I went upstairs to shave and freshen up. I shave every day; but I take particular care to get rid of my afternoon shadow before our photo session on Tuesdays. Like most women, California Girl likes her man freshly shaven; especially when evening festivities are planned. Here are a couple of photos highlighting the effects of a clean shave. Because it was so early in the evening, we were very animated.

Until recently, California Girl often wore one of my favorite summer dresses without any underwear since they showed through so clearly. Since she found a white thong which matches real well, she’s usually got something on underneath it except when she’s indulging me. I’ve always thought that it was interesting that it difficult to wear undergarments with so many women’s fashions. California Girl never wears a bra so that’s typically not a problem; but she does usually wear panties. I do think it’s sexy to see her pull a dress on over her naked body, grab a pair of shoes and be ready to go. It reminds me of not to long after we first met when California Girl would do exactly that before we would go get our dinner. Anyway, here’s a picture looking up my favorite dress. For some bottomless fun, talk to your significant other.

I mentioned last week that California Girl got a new swimsuit. When you have a pool in your backyard, you swim a lot so you have a lot of swimsuits; but she still gets at least one and usually several new ones each year just to mark the days of summer. Summer doesn’t officially begin until Friday; but, the kids are out of school and, despite the rain, we’ve been able to get in the pool. We love the spending the lazy days of summer in the pool. In addition to sex, it’s a refreshing and relaxing way to forget about life for a while. (And, sometimes, we combine the two together. ;D) Her are a couple of pictures of California Girl in the pool on her float. Look how clear the water is. Doesn’t that make you want to jump right in?

P.S. It wasn’t all fun. When I was getting everything ready, I discovered a HUGE snake slithering around in the back yard. Much larger than the ones we usually see. I don’t know a lot about snakes so chased it away just to be sure. It was probably harmless; but so there weren’t any surprises when we got out of the pool. A close encounter with a snake is not how you want to start your summer.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there! It’s raining now (again) but I spent the afternoon in the pool with California Girl which is one of my favorite places to be. It’s quiet and peaceful with, of course, the best friend I have in the world. I can’t think of a better place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. After being on the road on Father’s Day for the past two years, it was good to be home. I made sure to call my dad. I hope that you were able to call or visit yours.

California Girl and I both really liked the first picture in last week’s HNT post so we thought that we would try to replicate it with our places revered. California Girl has a much better backside than I do anyway. It didn’t turn out quite as well as we had hoped but we still liked it. California Girl especially liked the lighting and color in it. We could probably make better photographs if we featured simulated sex like in the movies but that wouldn’t be nearly as much fun.

We are also posting a picture of some of our “warm up” activities just because we liked the sentiment behind the photograph. You can’t see our heads very well but we were both really enjoying the moment. It doesn’t always happen; but participating in HNT often creates some great moments for us even if they don’t always show in our photos.
