HNT - 143

We don’t talk about it much but a lot of people predicted gloom and doom for our marriage because of the mixed race thing. It’s a lot more common today than it was twenty years ago. Even now, we occasionally receive an obnoxious comment from someone who doesn’t mind interracial sex; but has a problem with interracial marriage. So, our theme for today is “yes, we are still married”. California Girl’s wedding band is featured prominently in the photographs. We hope you enjoy them. And, if not, and you can eat the “rock” you’re living under.

Two For Tuesday – 136

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I made enlargements of the photos we posted last Tuesday for my desk at work. I’ve always found photo kiosks useful even though we don’t make a lot of prints. So, today, we thought that it would be fun to make something unprintable, at least at your typical photo counter. If we were going to make prints, which one do you think would make the best enlargement?

I Needed That

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

After twenty consecutive weeks of six and seven day work weeks, I finally had a three day weekend. I really enjoy my Christmas and Independence Day vacations but five months is a long time to go without a break; especially since I worked so many weekends. My telephone did not ring and I did not even turn on my laptop. It was bliss. I just caught up on mundane chores and generally “decompressed”.

If you have a blog that I frequent regularly, I apologize for not visiting this weekend. I had planned to visit everyone on Sunday or Monday; but was too busy relaxing. Every year, it seems like Memorial Day Weekend takes longer and longer to arrive. I’m already paying for my three-day weekend at work; but it was worth it. I must admit that I spent a not inconsiderable amount of time playing computer games on our new widescreen monitor. The wider display made some older games seem new again.

If possible, I have also developed even more distaste for spammers. On Saturday I inadvertently deactivated the spam filter for comments. In a matter of minutes, the moderation queue was overflowing. It’s a nuisance for real people, but the CAPCHA (code words) stops thousands of bogus comments on every post. I wish they would go away. Their advertisements never show up. They are just a waste of bandwidth and processing time.

P.S. California Girl is taking The Boy to a pre-graduation event. We plan to have our photo session when she returns.

HNT - 142

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

As we mentioned previously, California Girl and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this month. To commemorate the occasion, I gave her 2 dozen long-stemmed roses. Since they were so pretty, we decided to feature them in our HNT post this week. The result were some artistic (at least for us) photographs that we both liked. Even though we’re both nekkid, our postis PG13 much in the style of some of our early HNT posts.

Two For Tuesday – 135

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Several people have mentioned both in comments and in the sidebar that they would like to see California Girl and I dressed up for a night out on the town. We haven’t had as many “dates” as we would like recently but we did go out to dinner this past Saturday night to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We both really liked the photographs that we took that evening so we decided to post them for Two For Tuesday. They are different from the pictures that we usually post since we’re both fully clothed; they’re still good pictures. We don’t always have to be undressed to have a good time. Anyway, our theme for today is “very special”. We like being married and it was great to celebrate our life together.

A Day Off

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I’ll pay for it with very late nights today and Monday but I took a much needed day off from work on Saturday and took California Girl out to dinner. It seems strange saying that I took a day off on Saturday but I’ve working weekends for so long, I can’t remember when my last free weekend was. The Girl had an early out of town soccer game which meant I had to be up and early; but even with the long drive, I was back home and had the day to myself by 1:30 or so.

I had planned to catch up with everyone in blogland; but spent the time catching up with California Girl instead. She accompanied me while I ran a few “fun” errands like going to the computer store. Then I washed the car and took a nap. My late afternoon naps are always great since California Girl usually joins me and we don’t go to sleep right away. ;) But we really did sleep for a bit. Afterwards we got up and went out for our new favorite restaurant for a sumptuous dinner. It’s very expensive; but we love eating there for special occasions.

Our 20th wedding anniversary is this month and we wanted to celebrate. It’s hard to believe we’ve been together that long. Even when I’m not cutting it off, I’ve lost most all of the hair that I had when we first met; but California Girl looks almost exactly the same. I’ve no doubt she could still wear the same dress now as she did then if they were still in style. Days like this don’t come around very often and I’m glad it was a good one.

HNT - 141

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

This week marks the third anniversary of HNT so Osbasso requested that everyone use THREE as the theme for their posts. From time to time people have commented that something to do with blow jobs is a recurring theme for us for HNT and we post a lot of blow job photographs generally. So, since BJs and HNT are apparently synonymous for us for HNT we thought we would post a BJ collage. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the anniversary of HNT.

Two For Tuesday – 134

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

I was doing the homeowner thing when I got home on Tuesday, so California Girl and I did not have our photo session until very late in the evening. (With all of the rainy weather that we have been having recently that lawn has really been growing. Plus, when it hasn’t actually been raining, the grass has been too wet to cut.) We always try to have our photo session; but I don’t always get time to edit and post the results. Mowing the grass and dong other things around the house isn’t my favorite thing to do; but it’s something that needs to be done. Anyway, as we mentioned in our previous post, we got a new flat screen LCD monitor. So, I thought it would be nice to post a BIG picture of California Girl. It’s not two (or more) photographs like we usually post; but think of it as double size. Click toreally enlarge.

Waiting For the Package Truck

Monday, May 12th, 2008

We’re finally moving into the 21st century and getting an LCD monitor. We’ve been using the same CRT for five years. That’s one of the reasons that the colors of our photographs may seem a bit “off” to some of you. Even though most computers these days have LCDs we’ve been do all of the editing on an old CRT. I don’t blog from work, so I seldom view our blog on and LCD. When I have had the opportunity, the difference in the appearance of our photographs has been very noticeable. It should be delivered early next week so the pictures from our next photo session should look a bit different/better.

California Girl and I are really looking forward to reclaiming our lost desk space. It’s really shrunk over the years as we got bigger and bigger monitors. Our first computer had a 13-inch monochrome monitor which was considered oversized since many computers in those days were only had 12-inche monitors! Nowadays, something that size would considered small even for a laptop.

The kids have had a flat screen LCD for years, so we’re finally “catching up” to them. Until their last computer, they’ve had a lot of hand me down processors; but, they’ve always had newer monitors and good video cards. They can get by with a slower system; but they spend so much time online researching and typing homework that California Girl and I always felt that a good monitor and keyboard was important; especially since they still have good vision. No, we’re finally taking our own advice.

Question: Does anyone else still have/use CRTs or are we the last dinosaurs?
For the non-technical, LCDs are the thin flat panel displays that you see sold with new computers and CRTs are the big boxy things resemble old-style TVs.

Update: The monitor has arrived and it is sweet. Photographs look great on it.

Weekend Warrior

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

If it seems to you I have not been not around blogland much except on weekends, it’s because that is the case. I already was working a lot before our hiatus; and the amount of work to be done has only increased since then. We’re nearing the finish line; but I still have a couple more weeks of long days. In the career I have chosen, the long days come and go. Unfortunately, I’ve been assigned to two projects whose success is vital to our business back to back.

I “like” being selected to work on high visibility projects because it’s an acknowledgment of my skills and accomplishments. But, I do need a low key project from time to time. The good thing about working on critical projects as opposed to low-key tasks with open-ended timelines is that, assuming you get finished on time and under budget, you don’t have to worry much about being laid off. The bad thing is that you end up surrounded by a lot of nervous directors and VPs. And, of course, there is that whole not spending enough time with your family thing. In a way, the other members of the project team and I are victims of our own success.

I’ve always been good at what I do and expect to succeed; so I don’t have a true understanding of what is like to be a chieftain and basically have your future in the hands of an extremely capable but very overworked and somewhat irritable project team. All they can do is watch and hope. I think I would be nervous too if I was in their position; but, as hard as it is to do, the best thing they can do is leave us alone to do our job. And feed us when it gets late.

When the long days and nights are over, I’m going to take some very well deserved time off and do something nice for the family. And California Girl and I will probably have some very “interesting” photographs for the blog. :)
