Something Old, Something New
You may have noticed that the orange is gone from the sidebar. After two years, I finally changed the theme. The colors are the same since we like combinations. And, of course, we kept the same header image. But otherwise, it’s a new and hopefully easier to read design. It’s slightly wider than before so it looks best on resolutions of 1024x 768 or higher, something that shouldn’t with today’s widescreen monitors. And, and, and, it’s widget enabled so now I don’t have to edit the sidebar by hand whenever we want to change something. I am still tweaking a few things, especially the font size so let me know via comment, email or shout of you have any problems.
I also changed the CAPCHA so it should be more readable. Does anyone have a good list of words to use? Unlike the one before which used randomly characters, this one uses “regular” English words from a user supplied list. I loaded a shot list just to stop the spam; but I think it would be fun to use words form a particular topic or genre. I like the way this one looks much better than the previous one. Hopefully, it will do just as good of a job of preventing spam. While I was configuring this one, I tried a JavaScript/cookie-based antis-spam plugin that wasn’t much help at all. The bots really are getting smarter.
P.S. I know that the changes are subtle but any/all comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.
Update: I fixed a problem with the antispam plugin. You should be able to comment now.

I noticed the change when I visited the other night. I like it. A change is always refreshing but it wasnt too much that the site was unrecognisable, it still has some familiarity.

A slight increase in the font size to help us glasses wearing folk would help. LOL went to the optomitrist and he handed me a card with light green font so small theat even with readers on I could not read it. Great movie and a cleaner look but please more font size. Thanks Jim
Ms SD: I wish I would have hand comments working then. Atl least they are fixed now. I didn’t want the change to be too severe.
I wonder if I’m like this in real life, going much longer than I shoud without chanhnging things.
Chickie: I think that is a good way to put it. I was getting a bit tired of the orange sidebar as I’m sure were many of the visitors. From now on, we’re going to have a fewer colors.

Carolina Jim and Wife: Everything is specified in ems so I only have to change one line to make all the font sizes bigger. I’ll probably increase the size of the default font when I’m next tweaking the CSS.
