I would like to thank everyone for the comments to the previous post. I’m feeling much better today, thinks in part to all of your well wishes. Life in the real world seems (almost) normal today.
Someone asked in the sidebar why I pixellate my new hairdo. Other than because I always do, I really couldn’t think of a reason why; so I decided lessen or eliminate the pixilation of my head depending on the angle of the photograph. And, just because I like them I also decided to do a collage. I wasn’t really gone; but the theme for today is “I’m back”. And we’re doing what we usually do in our photo sessions. Enjoy.

I went to a funeral today. This one was very sad, even as funerals go. It wasn’t a close relative; but it still touched a nerve. I don’t feel like doing much of anything today. Not even posting pictures which usually cheers me up. Please come back on Wednesday. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

The weather has turned cold after warm temperatures that seemed like they would never end and California Girl has put away her summer clothes for the winter. I know that summer will come again; but a couple of unexpected bills coupled with a large but expected one makes it seem very far away. When I was young, my mom always used to talk about the “long hard winter”. Since we lived in modern times I never understood what she meant until I was older and noticed how winters in Ohio seem to be drearier and more expensive than summers. I don’t really mind the winters; but it most of our “best ever” moments are in the summer.
Since warm sunny days are so far away, I though I would post a picture to remind me of this past summer. She’s always a bright spot regardless of the season.

I cut my hair even shorter than usual recently. I was very short even before my most recent hair cut; but I do really have hair on my head. (I know it’s extremely hard to tell from our photographs.) Basically it’s just a little fuzz that you can feel; or see if you are close up. Since it is so short, we decided to contrast my almost bald head with California Girl’s bald pubic area. So our theme for today is “barely any hair”. Unlike most people, California Girl can see a difference. She’s still deciding if she likes it or not but she did enjoy the comparison.

I got home late from work on Tuesday so our photo session was very late. In fact, California Girl and I had leftovers for dinner rather than our customary pizza. But we still had the usual in the bedroom so it was still a good evening.

I have always said that sports are a great teacher for life. Unfortunately, The Boy got a great life experience on Saturday. I know that he is just a teenager and has almost his whole life in front of him; but I did not like seeing him disappointed; especially after working so hard. Life isn’t always “fair” and sometimes, things don’t work out through no fault of your own. It has happened to me a lot over the years. But that didn’t make it any easier to explain to him. And, when you’re a senior, there’s no more next year.
I remember how happy everyone was that his wrestling team lived up to expectations and had a great season last year. It seemed like a given; but, as we found out on Saturday, when you’re dealing with teenage boys, anything can happen. I know that is sometimes the case. I just hate that there isn’t anything that I can do about it.

Long time readers will know that I celebrated a birthday recently. According to California Girl, the ravages of age haven’t taken too much of a toll. I spent it sitting in the stands at a soccer game like I do many evenings in the fall. But, there was plenty of “celebrating” later. California Girl always makes my birthdays special. So, our theme for today as it is “happy birthday”. It’s a rerun but birthday sex never goes out of style.

I could not resist posting boasting about The Boy being one of the top placers at the league championships for cross country on Saturday. And he set a PR! His high school running career is nearly over so it was good to see him do well. I’m proud of him. The first thing that he did when he got home after the meet was put his award on the mantle. His all league award for wrestling is his favorite; but this one is a close second. Winning isn’t everything but I still enjoy watching him be successful because of determination and hard work. I think it’s a very good lesson for life.
