A Successful Weekend
The Boy and The Girl both had successful weekends. The Boy and his teammates have been training very hard and it shows on Saturday when they race. They all looked good this past weekend. The season is still young; but they are the best cross country team the school has had in years and will definitely contend for the league title. And, since the first game of the season that was not so good, The Girl has had very strong performances. She occasionally gets frustrated with herself; but her team always has a chance to win if she is playing well. She’s average height for a 15-year old girl; but she plays big once she steps onto the field.
Our weekends are busy and California Girl and I don’t have very much time to watch our favorite NCAA football teams; but we would rather watch our kids any day. I’m amazed by how athletic the kids are. I run now for my health and I ran track in high school; but I was never as fast as The Boy. And The Girl can do things with a soccer ball that I can only dream of. I always tease them that it must be their shoes. Despite being so busy, I’m sorry to see the weekend come to a close. I’m really hoping the success continues for them. As hard as they have worked, they both deserve it.
P.S. I know we haven’t been posting as much as we usually do. But the kids’ sporting events often make for some very late evenings, and we never miss a minute of a game or race.

Must make you two very proud to see your kids achieveing so much.
And you have got your priorities right. Family comes first – the rest of us can wait (however impatiently) for your next post.
First off, I love your blog. Very nice balance of hot stuff with down to earth family stuff. Very nice.
My kids are a bit younger. My son is almost nine and lives for baseball and soccer. It’s not that he’s just so much more athletic than I ever was…it’s the fact that I can just see joy on his face like nothing else when he’s playing.
Once or twice a year I take him to see his favorite MLB team and let me tell you that even though I am not a Yankees fan, I just love the look he gets on his face when he sees his favorite player run out of the dugout to take the field. I don’t think it matters who the heck he’s rooting for at that point….it’s then that we ALL feel eight years old again.
Keep up the good blogging. I’ll be back.
I am sure having their parents support goes a long way to contributing to their success too. I hope they continue to have success for the rest of the season.
Ms SD
Alfie: We’re their biggest fans weather they’re the #1 player or the last sub at the far end of the bench. But I do like watching how hard work has paid off. I think it’s a great lesson for later in life.
Lapis Ruber: Your kids only grow up once. I used to work to had and missed out on a lot. Nowadays, I don’t miss a thing.
Lickety Split: Thank you. I think you’ve said what I was thinking very well. It’s watching them enjoy themselves that is priceless. Last winter, for example, we (the parents) all knew that The Boy was going to have a very good wrestling team. But, it was still very gratifying to watch their season. It’s just a sport, and doesn’t really matter much in the grand scheme of things. But it does make them happy. And them being happy makes us happy.
Ms SD: They do all of the hard work at practice. I just cheer. But I still remember the raucous bus rides back to school when I was their age. They are making their own success (or failure) which is one of the things that I like.
