The Monday After Vacation

It was hard to go back to work today. After being away for nine days it seemed like I was on a different planet. I like what I do; but it’s not nearly as much fun as getting in the pool. And, I had been away long enough to notice how stuffy and formal things are in the workplace. I work with a good group of people but it’s still not quite the same as being around family and friends. Does anyone else notice the same thing when they go back to work after vacation?

The Girl is zooming up on her birthday and, for a change, doesn’t know what she wants. Other than a Wii which is too expensive, she hasn’t been able to think of anything. This is really out of character for her. When she was younger, she’d make individualized packets complete with photographs of the gifts that she wanted for Christmas and give them to everyone she expected a present from. I generally opt for electronics; but she’s already got almost everything that I can afford that she’s permitted to have. This may be the first year since she’s been a teenager that I get her something that’s “girly” rather than unisex. Hopefully I’ll think of something suitable before the day arrives.

I spent part of the last few days helping set up blog for a good friend and was amazed by how much nicer and more functional some of the newer themes are. California Girl and I like to create our own; but, we like to look around from time to tine to see if we see anything that would be a suitable starting point. We’ve had the same theme for 18 months so we’re well past do for a change. Unfortunately, many of the templates aren’t suitable for a large top banner photograph. We don’t mind changing things around but want to keep the same background photograph at the top. If anyone knows of a template that would work well with our top banner and not be too distracting for photographs, please let us know.

P.S. I know that there are tons of “free” themes out there but many of them are “sponsored” or don’t allow you to make changes.
