For the first time in a long time, we are only posting one picture for HNT. A police officer showed up shortly after we took this shot. No, we didn’t get caught. In fact, he didn’t even get out of his car. But his presence made us nervous and it kind of spoiled the mood. Plus it was starting to get dark so we had to use the flash. And we’re sure that’s something he would have investigated. So, our theme for today is “a close call”. We’ll try and find someplace more secluded for our next outdoor photo session. Since our blog was down for awhile while we were on vacation, and we went over 1 million visitors on Monday, we though we should do something different for this week’s Two For Tuesday post. So, we are posting the longest movie clip that we have ever shown; over 10-minutes. Unlike our other videos, this one is unedited except for trimming the ends, and adjusting the color balance. As with most of our pictures and videos, we weren’t doing anything special for the camera so, if it’s slow in places, it’s because we were taking our time. We made it this past Sunday morning. The light coming in through the windows confused the camera so it’s a bit dark. We liked how it looked with the backlighting so we left it the way it was. You can’t tell from watching the video but California Girl is on her period so we put down the towels right before the video started. Anyway, our theme for today is “Sunday Morning Light”. We hope you enjoy. The video just over 4MB and we do not have a lot of bandwidth, so please be patient.

As usual, we’re only posting the video in Windows Media format (WMV) to save bandwidth. Leave us a comment if you can’t play it.

P.S. We also have a higher quality version (not as good as the original but still very nice) but it’s 20MB and we know we don’t have the bandwidth to serve it. Maybe we’ll use it as a prize for our next contest.

(1) Because I have a very narrow range of temperatures in which I am comfortable, I keep the thermostat in our house set on 78 degrees year-round. Fortunately, Midwestern City Boy does not mind this.

(2) When I am shopping, I try to find fashions that look good without a bra, so that I can avoid wearing those miserable contraptions.

(3) Although we have a swimming pool in our back yard, we don’t actually do much swimming in it. Usually we just float, hold hands, and talk.

(4) I have a hard time getting rid of old stuff if it has sentimental memories attached. Midwestern City Boy sometimes mentions “the towels” that weput on the bedwhen we have sex during my period. They are over 20 years old, worn out,and would havebeen thrown away long ago if we just used them as ordinary bath towels, but we can’t bring ourselves to replace them.

(5)I do the conventional female division-of-labor stuff in our house, like laundry and cooking, but it’s not because I am particularly traditional. It just happened toturn out that way because I don’t mind doing the housework and prefer to leaveallhome and car maintenance, lawn mowing, etc., which I’m no good at, to Midwestern City Boy (who is very handy).

(6) I never did any running or other significant athletic activities before I started running with Midwestern City Boy five years ago. It’s been a very good way to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors together.

(7) While I was dating Midwestern City Boy, before we got engaged, I wore his high school class ring.

Married In Ohio went over 1,000,000 visitors sometime today. It probably would have happened on Thursday of last week if the site had not been down while we were on vacation. We don’t look upon it so much an indicator of popularity as much as an indicator of longevity. A lot of blogs have come and gone in the in the two years and two months that we have been blogging. Thanks to every one who visits. And special thanks to those of you who leave comments; especially if you are one of the people who visited here when we first got started. We’re glad that you find us interesting enough to keep coming back.

Anyone who is married or living together knows that relationships have their ups and downs and that everything will not be perfect all of the time. Success is measured by what happens in the good times not what happens when things are not so good. For California Girl and me things have been very, very good for an extended period of time. I don’t know why. If I did, I would bottle it and save it for a time when things aren’t going as well as they are now. But since I can’t, I’m just going to savor these great days and hope the time when we aren’t flying so high is far in the future.

It’s been almost 24 years since we first met. We’ve been a part of each other’s lives for so long I can’t even imagine life without her. She is home and the place where I know I belong. We have both changed a lot since that day long ago in the video arcade. But the connection we forged is as strong as it ever has been. We share a passion that is difficult to put into words. We don’t have as much in common as some couples. And we don’t always do what the other one expects. But, together, we have crafted something that makes all of our incompatibilities seem minor. At the end of the day, we both know what truly matters. These days are priceless and something to be remembered forever.

We had such a good time at Walt Disney’s World last year that we went back again this year. We learned from our “mistakes” and really maximized the enjoyment. Plus having a new vehicle made the drive much more comfortable. I know that it’s something that millions of people do; but, for us, it’s still our most memorable family vacation ever.

It was more expensive; but, you can’t put a price on spending time with your family. Everyone had a good time and California Girl and I are fully recharged after going a long time without much of a break. With The Boy heading off to college next year, we wonder if it will be our last vacation together. We hope not, but, if so, it was a great way for things to end.

You may have noticed that there are fewer blogs in the “Daily Reads” section of the sidebar. It seems like almost overnight; blogs went offline or changed to invitation only. For most of them, I know why it happened so I’m not worried about the author; but I still don’t like to see it happen.

I know that we were offline for several days this past week but that was due to a problem with the server as opposed to California Girl and I deciding that we shouldn’t be blogging any more. It was a strange combination of circumstances which lead to the downtime that probably will never happen again; but I’ve taken some steps to prevent it from reoccurring nonetheless.

I have come across some interesting new blogs that I added to the “New Reads” section most recently Pale is the New Tan; but, sadly, there are more removals than additions. I know that it is the way of the blogosphere but that still doesn’t make me wish it was not so.

If you are one of the people who have recently taken you blog down or changed it to invitation only, best of luck to you. I hope that everything turns out OK. It was a fun ride while it lasted. I am very glad to have met you. Thanks for all that you have shared.

It didn’t show up well in yesterday’s photographs but California Girl got a lot of sun while we were on vacation. She had on a shorts and a tank top most of the time so you can really see the contrast between her torso and her arms/legs. I got a lot of sun too; but we don’t have any good pictures of me. I mentioned in the last post that California Girl and I (and the kids) were off for the last week or so enjoying ourselves in the 3-D world. Family vacations are great! About the only thing wrong was that we didn’t have the room to ourselves very much. And, when we did, we had to keep the windows closed despite the gorgeous weather outside, since people were going by on the walkway outside our room. So, although we’d still rather be on vacation, it’s good to be home. After begin limited to a small room with the windows and doors shut it was nice to open the blinds and enjoy our space. So, our theme for today is “a room with a view”. It’s not the best view in the world, but it sure beats being shut in a small hotel room with only the light from a few fluorescent light bulbs. We plan to be out and about next week; but, sometimes, there is no place like home.

Hello everyone. We apologize for the extended downtime. The rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. While we were off enjoying ourselves in the 3-D world, our web/email server experienced a hardware fault that required someone to physically access the system. That’s what happens when you have a system administrator (me) with no backup. We’re home now and everything is fixed. We know we lostmost/all of the emails that were sent while the server was offline. Hopefully we didn’t loose too many. Otherwise, the past 4½ days have been great.
