A Good Read
I just finished reading My Incredible Sex Life by Roberta Wendy Woods and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The book ties fact and fiction together for a captivating novel about human sexuality from the 60s to the present. It reads more like an illustrated diary than anything else as it chronicles the life of a very sexually adventurous woman through the various stages of her life.
The book really resonates with me since I lived through nearly all of the eras it discusses. I remember the days when, unlike today, teenage girls who got pregnant suddenly disappeared. Many of the happenings described are things that I experienced first or second hand. And, interestingly enough, California Girl and I have used a number of the birth control methods that it mentions.
It is impossible to tell what is fact and what is fiction since the book is so well researched and well written. I do not read as many books as I used to in today’s Internet age; but I am glad that I read this one. I know California Girl and I have some new things to put on the to-do list.
The byline of the book is “Because you really do want to know what goes on in your neighbor’s bedroom.” It talks about sex in the bedroom, sex in the living room, sex in the car, sex in the doctor’s office, sex at swing parties, sex at… The list goes on and on. And, with all of the standard combinations of people as well as some that you wouldn’t expect would be so popular.
If you’re curious about sex through the years and its many variations, then this book is well worth reading. It really does reveal what goes on in your neighbor’s bedroom. And the results are fascinating. It was a good read which I heartily recommend.
Important Note: Like many bloggers, California Girl and I get a lot of e-mail offers for freebies that we always decline. But, since Wendy is a long time reader, California Girl and I enthusiastically accepted her gracious offer for a free copy of her book since it was more akin to the interchange often that takes place in the blogosphere among friends. There was no real or implied agreement to blog about it. Or the tacit agreement to say something nice as there would be with many of the offers for free stuff that we receive unsolicited in the mail.

Wow, I just have to check that out. I’m currently working my way through My Secret Life which is an anonymously written book about a man’s sex life in Victorian London. And, since I’m a voyeur, of course I want to know what’s going on in my neighbor’s bedroom!

Mr. Manic Depressive: It goes fast. Once you get into it you don’t want to put it down. I think you’d like it since you lived the times being written about like I did.
