No Place Like Home
California Girl and I just got back from an overnight trip out of town and we are very glad to be home. Usually, we enjoy staying at hotels; but not when they are like the one that we stayed at. First, the fitness center was “closed for renovations” so we couldn’t work out on Sunday morning like we usually do. And second, the heat in the room only worked intermittently. Sometimes, it blew roasting hot air; and other times it was like an air conditioning unit. Plus, we didn’t expect it to be as cool as it turned out to be inside in the places that we went and weren’t as warmly dressed as we could have been so we never really warmed up.
If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’ve probably seen most of the rooms in the house in the background of photographs. To most people it appears a rather ordinary house. But, it’s ours; and it’s just the way that we like it. And when I look around I see memories. Our home has two personalities (similar to us). When the children are home it’s a great place for family time. And when they are away, it’s a nice adult playground. I think that we have gotten frisky just about everywhere. Right now California Girl is curled up on the couch with a Sudoku puzzle book. And I am blogging. But soon, I’m going to drag her upstairs and make sure that she has a warm, restful night’s sleep. Because what’s really wonderful about our home are the people in it.

Sorry to hear your weekend stay was crummy, but there really is no place like home.
From reading your posts, I can tell your home is your safe haven filled with love.
Have a great day!

Alfie: I’ve never really been able to get into Sudoku which is rally strange since I’m usually a big fan of puzzles. And although we do like to workout in the mornings, we can stay just about anywhere so long as the temperature in the room is comfortable and we have hot water. We’ve had the “experience” of staying in cheap hooker motels complete with free X-rated movies on the TV that they didn’t even wash the sheets in when we’ve had to make unexpected stops while on road trips. And believe it or not, we still had “fun” despite our surrounding if you know what I mean. I will say we washed everything (including the car) when we got home.
Kitty: It wasn’t so bad since California Girl is usually a good sport when things don’t turn out quite like we expect. (See above.)

Having just spent a week away without Mr SD, I can agree that there is no place like home. While I had my daughter with me, it is so much nicer being all together.

Ms SD: It’s been raining a LOT across most of the Midwest (including Ohio) so it was a very soggy drive. Plus we weren’t alone in the vehicle and couldn’t talk about things that we like to talk about when we’re in the car alone. So we were very glad to get home. I think I’m going to go upstairs and start waring up the bed for California Girl.

But i know you’ll keep each other warm now that you are at home!

Hi. Emm is addicted to Sudoku whenever she has at a loose end - mostly when I’m watching documentaries of tv. I usually sit next to her absent-mindedly stroking her legs or playing with her feet. Sorry to hear about your weekend. Until we retired, we stayed at some really grotty hotels - so-called “family hotels”. Bedrooms with not enough room to swing a cat. And as for central-heating? Forget it! Next month (as a birthday treat) I’m taking Emm to the best hotel at our favourite resort - a suite with four-poster bed, marble bathroom and genuine antique furniture. As Emm has said, it will be a good venue for photographs.
