Christmas Eve
As I sit here in the study with a fireplace going in the background and a Christmas tree full of presents in the family room I can’t help but think back to olden times when our Christmas decorations consisted of a single strand of lights taped to the wall, a couple of plastic wreaths and two scented candles that we got at the discount store. California Girl and I each only had one small gift for each other. We have certainly come along way since then. We’ve gone from just the two of us to a family of four. And not just any family of four, but a family we only dreamed about that cold December day long ago.
I’m amazed by how close that the children are and many things that we do together. Everyone always told us that that The Boy and The Girl would start quarrelling with each other and not be friends when they got to be teenagers. Or that they would not want anything to do with us once they got into high school. But we spend as much time together as we always have. If anything, these days are more precious because we know they aren’t going to last forever. The Boy and The Girl are out doing some last minute shopping with my mom. When they return we will wrap the last of the Christmas presents and spend the evening watching videos in the home theater just like old times.
And tomorrow, there will be the excitement that can only come from kids on Christmas morning. Some years we have a lot of presents and some years we have not too many; but the mood is always the same. I would not want to be anyplace else except here with California Girl, The Boy and The Girl. I wish I cold bottle the feeling of the day so that I could keep it forever. They say Christmas is for children but I think they have it wrong. I think Christmas is for parents. California Girl and I will remember and cherish these times with the children forever. And we’ll think back upon this time fondly when they will have families of their own and can’t all be together anymore.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. Your post really hit what Christmas should be about.
Merry Christmas to all four of you!
This year is our second Christmas with Des and Meghan…Destiny is starting to understand Santa Claus, and was excited when she went to bed tonight, which made me smile…last year she just didn’t get it, and was hardly aware of Christmas at all.
Meghan is 20 months old this year, and is able to be a more active part in things. She’s loving ripping the wrapping paper off of the gifts, and I love the looks of delight she gets on her face when she sees what underneath the paper.
Our 2nd Christmas with them already…I can hardly believe it! Next year…they’ll really be “ours”.
Peace, Love, and Joy!
Wishing you the happy day I know you’re already having! Much love to you 4: my favorite happy family!
xoxo

Merry Christmas to you all. Sometimes, with all of the bad things happening in the world. I wonder if this is really a dream. We sure have days that could be the best ever.
You’re definitely one of my favorite web families…I wish you all the best in 2007 and hope that you continue to astound us with the love you have for your family (and also, keep regaling us with funny items such as ‘Dick Like a Can of Edge Gel.’
VM: No one knows what the future may bring; but I sincerely hope it brings more good times to us. We’ve had many memorable days; but I’m still greedy for more.
