The Busiest Week Of The Season
We haven’t been posting as frequently as we usually do, principally because this past Saturday marked the beginning of the busiest week of the season. Every day is a game day or a special event for the kids culminating in the league championship meet in cross country for The Boy this coming Saturday. Although I will be glad for the break, I will be sorry to see their seasons wind down. The fall sports season has a “feeling” that doesn’t exist in the winter or spring. I expect The Boy to be a ferocious wrestler this winter, and more than on person has said to me that they can’t wait for him to hit the mats this season; but nothing beats being outside on a glorious autumn day.
This past Saturday was also the only time that The Boy and The Girl had conflicting schedules and I was unable to attend both of their competitions. Start time for The Boy’s race and kick-off for The Girl’s soccer game were within minutes of each other. I’ve been double booked before but always managed to make both events somehow (a heavy foot on the accelerator) but this time there was no way. So, as much as I hated it, I had to choose. Since The Boy doesn’t drive yet, California Girl and I have to “divide and conquer” a lot so they know that we can’t always both be there; but I’ve been the one who’s always been at their games dating back to when I used to be the coach and “had” to be there. I hate disappointing either of my children. I hope this situation never happens again.
After a flurry of activity this weekend and next, California Girl and I will get our weekends back for a while. We’ll still have Friday night football games and some Saturday morning practices, but the days of us being double and triple booked will be over. We’ll have so much free time we won’t know what to do with it. (That’s a joke; I’m sure we’ll think of something. In fact I already have a couple of ideas.)
P.S. I meant to post this on Sunday but I got busy.

Oh yeah..you will think of something to do!
I’m sorry it has been so busy for you but life will settled down – promise!
This is our Bye week by the way..but with the way things have been going on in the football realm for us…we need the rest!
Kelly: I am really hoping for a saner life in the coming weeks. I know it will slowdown someday, but we need a break. Only time will tell how Cincinnati will react to their bye week. Wish us luck.
