For The Sixth Time
The Boy was the top runner on his team at their weekly cross country meet. I have been really impressed with his consistency; especially considering that he has been battling several nagging injuries. He considers himself a wrestler but he has turned into a fine runner with a lot of hard work in the summer and during the season. He has really blossomed in is junior year. What I like the best is the fact that a great work ethic is the main reason for his improvement. And, despite the rigors of training, he got all As on his interim report card. I think California Girl and I sometimes take his outstanding athletic and academic performance for granted so I wanted to be sure to acknowledge his accomplishments.

I hate to point this out, but as the boy doesn’t know about, or read, this blog, what have you done to acknowledge his accomplishments withi his earshot?
I know I have been guilty of not heaing well deserved praise on my kids, instead bragging to my friends…
Just asking…
I am sure that you are very proud of his accomplishments.Give him a special treat to show your appreciation.
Just stopping by and catching up on a little reading.
I love to read your posts. I love to read about your family life.
Congratulations to the boy and to the two of you for raising such a great kid. Well, two great kids actually, right? You should be very proud of them.
Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend.

How very neat! Be sure to tell him. Sometines I find myself in a rut of telling my children the things they need to improve and I realize that I never compliment them on what they do well!
You two must be so proud of him!
It’s always neat to read about your kids. It seems that you two are doing a great job with them.
DisappearingJohn: I told him that he’s been doing well. I toiled in obscurity when I was in high school and didn’t get any recognition from my parents. So I wonder if I’m letting him know enough.
Richard: Its hard to give him a special treat since he’s pretty self sufficient. He’s not interested in having all of the latest things. (Unlike the girl who is always looking for a new ring-tone or MP3.)
Thru My Eyes: thanks for stopping by. Glad that you like the posts about the kids. I know I agonize over parenting more than anything else. And I am proud of them. BTW: California Girl and I had a wonderful weekend.
Kelly: We do the same thing, focusing on the area that need improvement and not the areas that they re doing well in. They are two separate people so we try not to compare them with one another but they still find unintended comparisons in some of the things we say.
Chickie: Thanks. The kids are our pride and joy. But they tar both a lot of work. Much more than when they were younger.
Your son is doing awesome, and I can tell how proud you are of him! He’s got great role models in his life, and it shows.
Haven’t been by in a little while, but I do check in…haven’t participated in HNT in quite awhile either…I will again sometime.
I wanted to ask you to stop by my blog. There’s been tons going on! I had an appendectomy, and tomorrow my Mom-in-law will be having brain surgery to remove a large tumor in her head. Prayers are needed and yours would be appreciated!
MamaKBear: Thank you. I stopped by your blog, got caught out with the situation, and said a prayer for your MIL. You all are in my thoughts.
