The Boy was the top runner on his team at their weekly cross country meet. I have been really impressed with his consistency; especially considering that he has been battling several nagging injuries. He considers himself a wrestler but he has turned into a fine runner with a lot of hard work in the summer and during the season. He has really blossomed in is junior year. What I like the best is the fact that a great work ethic is the main reason for his improvement. And, despite the rigors of training, he got all As on his interim report card. I think California Girl and I sometimes take his outstanding athletic and academic performance for granted so I wanted to be sure to acknowledge his accomplishments.

It has rained quite a bit around here in recent weeks so California Girl and I have spent a lot of time outside in our heavy weather gear at high school sporting events. Since it looks like more of the same this coming weekend, California Girl and I thought that we would do something fun with our rainwear after they had dried out from the weekend and before we used them again. Our ponchos do provide easy access to all of the important areas. Anyway, our theme for HNT this week is “fun in rainwear”. We took these pictures inside since it’s very, very un-fun to be outside in a cold September rain. Besides, our camera isn’t waterproof. Stay dry this weekend. At least on the outside.

Today is actually the one year anniversary of Two For Tuesday and we had planned to do an “anniversary special” but we have been very busy lately and the mouse on our computer broke so we just took a few quick photographs before moving on to “other things”. The photos don’t really fit together so we don’t have a theme. Hopefully we’ll have time for something more elaborate next week. Anyway, we hope you enjoy our “in between” pictures.

California Girl wore my favorite summer top today. There is a cold front moving in, so this may be the last time she wears it this year.

Shortly, California Girl had to go get her diaphragm. No bottoms make oral sex very easy. I waited patently for her to return.

Today is ask MCB/CG day. We try and do this once a month for any new readers. Everyone is welcome to ask a question. I should have done this yesterday but fell asleep watching MNF. (I was when I woke up that the team I was rooting for won.) This is the fifteenth time that we have done this. It’s usually been pretty fun. With all of the rain this week, The Girl’s soccer game for this weekend was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. So California Girl and I unexpectedly had some free time this weekend. The Boy had a VERY muddy cross country meet which we attended but, otherwise, we spent the weekend at home. It was much to cold, wet, and dreary to get into the pool, so we got reacquainted with the home theater. It was good to spend some time just watching football in high-definition on the big screen and generally being lazy.

I love to watch the children compete but I miss being able to spend time with California Girl on weekends. Kids grow up in the blink of an eye, so it’s good to support them; but sometimes, I feel like California Girl and I get a bit out of step with each other. This is the first year that both kids are in high school (with the resultant increase in activities) so this is a new experience for us. How have you parents out there in blogland dealt with similar situations? I know that there is no silver bullet; but I’m curious what other moms and dads are doing.

I mentioned in our most recent Two For Tuesday post that we like to enjoy a relaxing soak in the whirlpool tub from time to time. I was very busy with work this past Tuesday and didn’t have much time for our HNT photo session. So, we decided to take photographs of us enjoying a bath together before retiring to bedroom. So, our theme for HNT this week is “Jacuzzi sex”. You can’t tell in the pictures but the jets were on and the water temperature was the just right. It was an awesome sojourn from sitting at my laptop.

We don’t use it as often as we would like since it uses gigantic amounts of hot water but a whirlpool tub is one of the greatest luxuries of modern times. We like to say that ours is “big enough for two people who like each other”. So it works perfectly for California Girl and me.

I had a lot of work to do on Tuesday. In fact, I ended up working through the night. But I did take a break for pizza and sex, although not necessarily in that order. I know that it is Wednesday afternoon; but I am just glad that I found the time to post these photographs at all.

California Girl and I also spent some time in our whirlpool tub on Tuesday. Me as therapy for my shoulder, and her just to keep me company. We were planning on doing that on Monday but after standing out in the cold rain for so long I had no interest on being immersed in water. A bath in the Jacuzzi is a great way to relax and forget about work if only for a little while. And it really helps to set the mood. Anyway, our theme for Two For Tuesday is “taking a break”. This is what we did when I wasn’t working last night.

Unfortunately it was neither of those things tonight. I know now that they play soccer in monsoons. It was pouring rain (but no lighting) so The Girl’s team played their game today. I’ve been home for quite a while and I still feel soggy. And I had a rain coat on. All the girls had were their uniforms. I’m sure they were miserable being out in the rain and cold for so long. At half time, many parents went to warm up/dry out in their cars. I stayed out in the rain pacing up and down in front of the stands trying to keep my circulation going. It’s hard to believe that California Girl and I were in the pool yesterday. I don’t think I’ll feel like being immersed in water any time soon. The only question is whether or not I’m warmed up enough for sex.

The kids are now the proud owners of brand new cell phones. And Dad is quite a bit lighter in the pocket book. While she was out to eat last night, the speaker on her phone stopped working. So we could hear her but she couldn’t her us. Everything else worked fine but a phone that only one person can hear the conversation is completely worthless. So it was off to the phone store for us. I know that electronics malfunction from time to time but The Girl’s phone is not that old. And, unfortunately, we didn’t have time to shop around since she is out and about so much and her Mom and I are not comfortable when she is unreachable.

The Boy’s phone still worked. The LCD was broken but everything else was fine. The only reason I allowed him to upgrade is that it didn’t seem fair that she got a new phone and he didn’t especially since his phone was older. He doesn’t answer his phone nearly enough to suit me. The kids get in trouble 100% of the time if they don’t pick up. But all too often, he lets the battery run down and then doesn’t turn it back on when it is done charging until he misses my call and then it’s too late. I know that it’s an honest oversight but he’s 16 and should pay better attention to things. I keep my phones until they are technologically obsolete. I wish they both could do they same.

I don’t usually complain, well I do, but generally not in posts. But today was different. I won’t go into all of the details but I ended up having to write a LARGE check because of someone else’s mistake. I should get the money back; unfortunately that won’t be until sometime next month at the earliest. So, for now, I’m just a lot poorer than I should be. Sometimes, life just sucks large, sweaty donkey balls. I really, hate dealing with large, bureaucratic, government organizations.

One good thing. It looks like California Girl and I may get a night out this coming weekend. For once, the weekend is not overloaded with football games, cross country meets and soccer games. It’s been so long since we’ve been able to get out; I’m not even sure what we’re going too do. But I’m sure I’ll think of something.
