All Funned Out
My “fun” meter is pegged and not in a good way. It’s almost 10:00 P.M. and I’ve been working since 9: A.M. on Friday morning. I tool a short break earlier today but it has been far too long of a day/night/whatever. Why am I working so hard? It’s that “specialized knowledge” thing. We’ve got two hot projects hat have to be finished by the end of the month and I’m the only one with the required expertise. So I’ve been working double time and then some to try and get them finished. Plus on top of that, one of my co-workers has been having a number of thorny problems requiring help even though I don’t really have the time. I’ll survive. It’s only a short forced march. But I wish that there was someone else that they could rely on. And in a cruel twist of fate, both kids are at “Pirates of The Caribbean” so California Girl and I have had the house to ourselves for quite awhile since its such a long movie; but I’ve got too much work to do to take the kind of break that I would like too. Besides, I need a shower. And a shave. And a haircut. And some sex.

That’s awful. But good that you have an optimistic outlook. But too bad about the HOT weekend and hot wife, but not hot time.
My “enter code” number is the same pattern as my zip code! weird.
Just stopped by to catch up– here’s hoping the busy time passes smoothly at work!
Sounds like The Girl’s party was awesome. Love those days.
Rosie: I think I’m gong to go to bed even though I’ve got work to do. I’ve started to lose focus. Usually I’m good for more than one all-nighter in a row. I must be getting old or something. I have had a shower, and a shave, and a haircut. I just need to work on the sex thing.
That’s weird about your code. It’s probably the only time seething like that has ever happened. Maybe you should play the lottery.
The Girl had a great birthday party. And she really loves her digital camera. Both kid’s are spoiled but they won’t be young for much longer.
I used to do the multiple all-nighters. Now I just seem to work seven days a week instead.
Oh I know that feeling. I volunteered to help out on a project that is failing in the final hours. So last week, this weekend and this week is hell.
Why did I volunteer? I have the knowledge to help, I seldom get to do tech work anymore, and I would have felt bad not doing it.
But it doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck!
I hope it gets better for you!
Monty: I know exactly how you feel. There was a time when I worked 16 hours a day, 5 days a week, 12 hours on Saturday and JUST 8 hours on Sunday. Amazingly, I managed to stay married. The push to finish this most recent project doesn’t seem so bad compared to that.
Kelly: I hope that the failing project can be rescued with your help. But at least you get to be the hero and not the goat.
I volunteer for a lot of things too. Most of the time, I don’t mind but sometimes, I feel like people take advantage of my good nature.
I hope it gets better for you. Although I was just changing desks (coming home), I was enforcing a hard break at 5:30. That way I at least had a short break. Thank goodness for laptops and VPN.
