Business Casual
Well I finally broke down and bought some new “business casual” outfits to wear to work. Why is that significant, you ask? Because it’s a conscious admission that I’m going to be there long enough to make such an investment worthwhile. For a long time, I was reluctant to update my work wear. First because I thought I might be downsized. And then because I though that I might not like the new regime and have to go elsewhere. I’ve know that nether of those were going to happen for quite a while. So it was time to update my wardrobe.
I went shopping with California Girl and The Girl which is an adventure in itself. Besides spending a LOT of money, I couldn’t tell whose stuff was whose when we got home. They both wear small junior sizes and the girl is a conservative dresser so there is a lot of similarity in the outfits they bought. Plus they were trading the belts that came with the bottoms. It’s weird that they can wear any of each others clothes. I’m still not sure I like The Girl wearing some of her mother’s bikinis that she doesn’t wear anymore for one reason or another.
I bought some new stuff too. That was the main purpose in going after all. But it’s not nearly as fun to buy things for work as it is for play. Especially since I’m an odd size for men. (I don’t think I’m smaller than average; but it was definitely easier to find clothes that fit toward the tail end of the season when I was heavier.) I really wish I could wear jeans to work.
I know its true for a lot of people who blog but if you passed me in a hallway at work, you would have no idea where I go or what I do once the whistle blows. We may be “married with children” but we still know how to enjoy ourselves and have fun. California Girl and I had a great weekend and are sorry to see it come to a close. We hope that yours was good too.

Best weekend in a long time. I only worked half of it, and got to play the other half!!! Yay!
HELLO GUYZ !!!!!
HAVE A NICE DAY !!!!
ONE MORE TIME … I NEED TO SAY:
I LOVE YOUR BLOG

My last two employers have been casual companies. So for the last 10 years I’ve been wearing shorts, jeans etc to work. In fact today I wore cut offs and a tank top!
I think I count myself lucky..I don’t miss the days of suits and *gasp* nylons!
A minor correction from California Girl: I tried to snag one of The Girl’s new belts, but unfortunately, her waist/hip area is still smaller than mine, and it didn’t fit.
Oh well, there’s always next year.
My current job is neat casual dress and while it is comfortable I do miss wearing business suits. I think Mr SD misses seeing me in them too, a nice skirt and jacket with heels. Now I just wear similar things to what I wear on the weekends, I do miss that distinction between work clothes and weekend clothes.
CG – you will have to give the Girl bigger portions for dinner until she reaches the same size as you
Monty: I worked last weekend and I’ll be working this weekend as well. This has been a good summer but it doesn’t compare to last summer where we all had much less to do.
HairyBears: Thank You!
Kelly: I’d love to work for a casual company. Ten yeas ago, I was still wearing suits to work. We consider ourselves fortunate if we get to wear jeans. Shorts, even nice ones are a no-no. People have even said something to me about wearing shorts when I’ve been called in while on vacation to fix a problem on short notice. The dress code is one part of our corporate culture that I truly wish would change.
Ms SD: We’re neat casual dress but I really wish management would allow us to “dress down” more; especially during the summer. We are all the same people no matter what we are wearing. And on weekends during the summer, I wear shorts and swim trunks, so there a clear distinction between work clothes and weekend clothes.
BTW: The Girl baked cookies today so we’re all well on our way to a different size.
