Days Like This Don’t Happen Too Often
After The Girl’s 8th grade graduation ceremony and receptions was concluded, we all came home and got in the pool. Just California Girl, The Boy, The Girl and me. Usually it’s just the adults or there are other kids in addition to ours. So it was good for just the four of us to enjoy the pool. I put some old school music that the kids don’t mind on the stereo, turned on the outside speakers got out all of the floats. The air was warm and water temperature was perfect. The kids swam and played until they were exhausted. They raced. They threw a beach ball around. They dunked each other. California Girl and I just watched and took it all in. And I took lots of pictures. Some from in the water. Miraculously, the camera didn’t get wet. Nothing beats a day like this. The kids stayed in the water until there wasn’t any light left. The probably would have stayed longer except the underwater light was broken. Afterwards, we called out for pizza and everyone went to bed exhausted but content. It was a wonderfull beginning to the summer. Days like this don’t happen too often.

They may not happen often, but you will not forget. What a great weekend for all of you. AND the weather cooperated.
It’s those kind of days, playing with the kids, that you and your wife will both remember long after they grow up and leave home. Been there, done that!
So glad you had such a “Picture is Worth A Thousand Words ” kind of day!!!!!Even though I don’t have children of my own when my favorite kid in all the world who I would have chosen given the choice is with us he never wants to get out of the pool. We have swam at midnight and had the best memories then laying out and looking at all the stars – Nothing beats that feeling! Is it really going to be June in a few days???????????????????????? Remember feeling every year like “This was just the best summer ever!” I hope to never lose that feeling!!!!!!!!
i wanna see pics…
Dang. That sounds like a perfect, idyllic, wonderful, special day. I don’t usually think about pools but I envy yours right now, and also the feeling of being completely contented, which you all seem to be. Brava and enjoy the summer!
Nothing beats a day like this.
Best.days.ever.
How wonderful! It sounds like your weather was like ours!
I hope it continues!
Rosie: I wish we got more days like that. We were off from work/school and far less busy on Monday but Sunday was still the “best”. And the weather couldn’t have been better for getting in the pool. Sometimes the weather gods do cooperate.
Rob: These days are especially wonderful now that the kid’s days at home are starting to draw to a close. When they were younger, we couldn’t even imagine life without them. Now we only have a few years left to enjoy them.
Interested Reader: I took some great pictures. My only regret is that I’m not in any of them. Nothing beats having a pool that you can stay in as late as you want.
Last year was a summer to remember. Every think all came together for a great time. We weren’t to busy at work. The children didn’t have a lot of summer activities. The weather was great. We all just had the time of our lives last summer. We’re hoping for a great summer this year; especially with a rare out of town vacation planned.
Melanie: You’ve got mail.
VM: I didn’t like pools much until we got one. Then my whole opinion changed. When it’s right there in your back yard, all of the things you don’t like about them go away. Everything you need is right inside the house. And of course we play our favorite music. It makes for the best of times.
Kalani: Definitely one of the best days ever. I wish I could put it in a bottle so I could keep it forever.
Kelly: Our weather was HOT. So it was perfect pool weather. We don’t mind cooler days but we LOVE warm days outside in the pool.
