Where’s My Cape?

This weekend has been as good as the last week was bad. The Girl went to two social functions on Friday which put her in teenager heaven. The Boy finally finished a big project at school so he could relax for the first time in ages. And California Girl and I spent an unhurried Saturday together for what seemed like the first time in ages. And The Girl scored a goal in her soccer game today.

We all went out to eat at everybody’s favorite restaurant on Saturday night. The kids had wanted to go to the Outback Steak House but I thought that it would be nice for everyone to have to have a really sumptuous meal after such a long week. The restaurant is really nice. The service is always very good and the portions are enormous. The only “problem” is that it the check was enormous too. We’ve only got one checking account but it was “my treat” for everyone being nice to me.

I gave California Girl some red roses today just to let her know I appreciate her. I generally prefer more lasting gifts but sometimes flowers express the perfect sentiment. We’re going to eat pizza and watch a movie in the home theater. This weekend reminds me of the glorious days that we had last summer. The ones you wish could go on forever. Or that you could bottle so that you could relive them again. This is was life is all about.

yes it’s what it’s all about, MCB…

and I smiled so big that you gave CG flowers ..as a thank you. So many people give flowers as they court..but after a long standing marriage..forget that life is about always courting in one way or the other..always showing the other they are special and needed.

what a nice post - and the dinner sounded good! (and the check scary!)

It is so good that things are looking - well so good. Sounds like a great time for the family and a special thank you to CG. Continue to enjoy as you can.

Kelly: It’s easy to take people for grated. Even those we care about the most. I’m kind of sentimental so I still do things just because it makes me feel good.

Rosie: We can’t control everything but we can make our own fate. Sometimes, we just talk ourselves into feeling bad. But the converse is also true. We can always be happy if we want too. But it does help to have a good support system.
