Blow Jobs and Birthday Cake

MammaKBear mentioned in her comments to our most recent HNT post that it “is definitely one of y’alls more tame HNTs”. That got me thinking about our blog and how it mirrors our life. Sometimes we do G rated things and sometimes we do NC-17 rated things. Married In Ohio is a bit unusual in that the posts span the spectrum from “suitable for all ages” to “mature themes and content”. There are a lot of blogs that are adults only all the time and many others that would be OK for kids to read. Life is a lot more adult oriented than is generally portrayed. That’s not to say that people are always swinging from the rafters. But there isn’t anything wrong with “recreational” sex. By recreational, I mean that the participants are NOT trying to have kids and are usually employing some form of birth control.

California Girl and I are like most couples. We focus a lot on the children but we still set aside time to do things with for each other. Sometimes, that may be playing our favorite computer game. And other times it may be something a bit spicier. We post about notable things in this blog. We don’t embellish what happens but we don’t sanitize it either. This blog is more or less a “stream of consciousness” synopsis of our life. So, one post may be about the kids and our life as parents. The next may be about sex and our life as husband and wife. It doesn’t really flow; but then it’s not supposed to. Life doesn’t flow either. We’ve had many days like tomorrow where we got up early on Saturday for some sex before taking the kids to their activities.

I don’t know what the typical mix between husband & wife and mom & dad is but California girl and I have found a mix that works for us. We chronicle the activities of both on our blog. So if you like to read about the kids and the issues we face as parents there are many posts about them. And if you’re interested in what happens when we get behind closed doors there are plenty of posts that too. And somewhere in the middle are posts about our relationship. We like to include pictures because we think it give our blog personality and provides everyone with a better sense of who we are. Sometimes the photographs will be tame and sometimes they will be spicy, just like what goes on in our life.

Now that I read the post… This is exactly what I meant when I said you are so natural in what you do. I think the reason some of us admire you so much is because you are ‘real people’ we identify with you. We admire the love and respect you have for each other and your whole family unit.

It’s late shouldn’t you be getting to bed? ;)

Oh and I love the title of this post “Blow Jobs and Birthday Cake”. It would make a good blog title or even subtitle.

Hmmm…I hope you didn’t take that comment to mean I was disappointed or anything in y’alls last HNT pictures. Not at all!

I really enjoy reading you guys, whether you talk about the kids, sex, or just what you’ve got planned for the day. And I always appreciate your comments to my own posts over at my place. I value your opinions on things, particularly because you have kids who are almost grown, and I like knowing how you guys handled things that I might be going through with my girls now. Thanks for just being you!

I think what you say is very true… there is no clear defined road.. some days we do this and some days that.

Kalani: Hi. What are you doing up so late? We really appreciate you and all of our regular readers/visitors. Blogging has been much more meaningful than we envisioned when we first got started. BTW: You’ve got mail. The title seemed fitting based upon the photographs that had appeared recently. I hope someone does start a blog with that as a theme.

MamaKBear: We didn’t think that you were disappointed. Your comment just made me think. Our style has always been to be more outspoken when commenting. Not to be shrill but to try and offer a different perspective based upon our life experiences. For reasons which I’ve never quite figured out, we seem to have experienced more than many people. So we post and comment about it in hopes that it might be helpful.

Wenchy: As the commercial goes. True. True.

I love your blog because it is so real! Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than to see you and California girl so in love and living your daily lives with your great kids! Keep up the great work! BTW, I love California Girl’s new sweater! Great choice!

I’m with Andi, your blog is a good read because it’s about all aspects of your life. Don’t get me wrong - I like a “just sex” blog as much as anybody but since you seem like such nice people it’s neat to read about your “regular” life too.

Andi: Thanks. Its very gratifying to know that people are interested in the things than we like to post about. Despite my initial concerns, the sweater was a good birthday present for California Girl. Maybe I do have more fashion sense than I give my self credit for.

Rob: Thank you for your sentiment and thanks for the e-mail. It helps.

Chickie: Thanks. One thing I have noticed is that we’ve got more photos about sex than we did back in the summer but fewer posts, California and I still have killer sex. I know that I’ve been too busy shuttling the kids back and forth to write as many posts.
